What a treat!
A few months ago, I asked when the Synik 26 Guide’s Edition would be available and was told it would arrive in the summer. This week, while in Seattle for a work trip, I decided to stop by the factory store on my way to the airport.
To my surprise, an employee told me the Guide’s Edition was launching that very day—and if I had a little time to wait, I could be the very first person to purchase one!
I had originally planned to go with black ballistic, but as soon as I saw the classic navy Parapack, I knew it was the right choice. It pays tribute to the very first Guide’s Edition, and I loved its retro sheen and timeless look.
Now that I’ve landed back in the Bay, I couldn’t be more excited to retire my trusty 8-year-old backpack and start fresh with this one. My only regret? Not snapping a photo at the store with the bag and the two wonderful employees who helped me out. Still—what a memorable day! 😄
I've wanted a Tom Bihn backpack for a long time, and when the Guide Edition Snynik 26 was announced I pounced! I live near Seattle so I was lucky enough to visit the factory in person and try out my new pack and see the colors in person - I went with the Saguaro, which is perfect for me. I lead birding field trips and am also a real estater broker, so I wanted a pack that was versatile enough to go from the great outdoors to an open house, and this green beauty fills that bill with style and panache. I wore my Synick 26 for the first time during my recent field trip and it was a hit with my birding group; they thought it was the prettiest backpack they had seen, pretty high praise from folks who like to get dirty in the wilderness! Anyway, I am beyond pleased with my purchase and am looking forward to many years of travel, adventures and fun with this great backpack!
I’ve always found the S22 to be too small and the S30 to be too big, and so am S26 GE in raspberry (!!) was a dream come true. It’s a gorgeous color, turns very different shades of pink depending on the lighting. Couldn’t be happier to see a more “girly” color make the roster in a world where that’s pretty rare.
I recently got a promotion where I would need to travel for work and I’ve had the same backpack since high school. I decided I wanted to upgrade to something nicer. I was just going to buy a Swiss gear and call it a day.
Somehow upon googling I found Tom Bihn. I am very big on buying American made when you can. And honestly it’s very hard to even find most American made products. So that took me down the rabbit hole of American made backpacks. And there is no comparison. I searched Reddit for the best pack and debated on the Synik 26 or 30. Honestly everyone talked about how big the 30 was and the 26 would be plenty.
So then I waited for the colors to come out. But bam the guide edition came out and it is a beauty. I bought it immediately. Patiently waited for it to arrive, and was even more impressed when I opened the box.
This bag is incredibly well made. I probably could have gone with the 30 but they don’t currently have it in the guide edition. The only thing I don’t like about the bag is the interior water bottle spot. I wish it had an external water bottle holder. But it’s okay.
I took it on a work trip two days after I got it. I had plenty of room but did use my water bottle spot for other storage since my water bottle wouldn’t slide in with all the stuff I had in other areas.
Overall it is a great bag that will last me forever, or until my son steals it for himself.
I just took my first trip with this bag. It was just an overnighter with a car trip on one side and a plane trip on the other side. I like the organization of the bag however, I would like to see a pocket on the front that I can put my Kindle into while it still has a water bottle in it. The clothing on the inside isn't separated from anything else so a packing cube will be the next thing I buy for it. I wound up putting my Kindle into the laptop section but that isn't always convenient to get to. All in all, though, I think this is a great bag. I will need a couple more trips with it to dial it in.
