Just received the Maker’s Bag in Black 420 Spectron with pink (I forget the catalogue color name for pink) interior in time for a four day, 8 mile per day walking tourist trip around New York City, USA. Whilst the bag size was perfect for this journey, the shapelessness of the bag ‘s material is not suitable for all areas of a major metropolis. Both corners of the bag stay open when carried as a cross shoulder device, single shoulder bag, or just lying around. Too tempting for prying eyes when privacy is preferred. The TSA Agent asked “is your water bottle empty?” as it peeked out, looking from the open corner on the conveyor. Will list the bag on the forums FS, barely used for one trip. My first disappointment with a product from so many purchases from maker over the decades.
I took this bag on one trip and the clasp broke off. I don't know how to get a replacement. I am very disappointed because I read good reviews about this bag and thought it was stronger.

That piece is covered by our warranty, so we'll happily replace it if it breaks, either now or in the future, even multiple times if needed (hopefully not, though!) =)
While I really like this bag, on my first trip with it I found the flap gapped a lot on either side causing smaller items inside to fall out. When picking the bag up it would tip forward making items more likely to also slip out. I'd like it a whole lot more if the flap would keep the items inside more secure. I could reach inside and take things out without ever opening the flap. In the future, I won't be putting anything in it that might slip out or is of any value - easy for things to get lost.
Arrived today! The fabric is a definite upgrade. This new model has a 'magazine' pocket, something my original lacked and is much appreciated. The Maker’s Bag has been my everyday carry for years now. My original is still in perfect condition. It didn’t need replacing, but I wanted the new fabric. I love everything about this bag. I own so much Tom Bihn gear, and of all of it, the Maker’s Bag has been my favorite and I expect this brand new edition to top them all. If I could add one thing it would be pen loops; and so I did! By hanging Tom’s roll-up pen pouch from one of the o-rings. The outstanding design, construction, and craftsmanship I have come to expect. I couldn’t be more satisfied.
This bag is THE absolute best. I was worried that because there isn't a top inner zipper my items would fall out, but despite knocking over my bag several times it hasn't been an issue. There are so many pockets, and the inner most have elastic so my stuff stays neat and out of the way. To some extent I end up not using most of the pockets because I lose track of where items are, but It's really nice to have them. I will say that it is easy to overstuff the bag--there is so much space that I keep adding "just in case" items and will likely need back surgery in my later years lol. To help with that, the strap is long enough to use crossbody comfortably (despite ample bosom and wide shoulders). Photo shows 32oz waterbottle, 2lbs popcorn kernels, chunky travelers notebook, 1 hardcover novel, 2 notebooks, PACKED small zip pouch. Additionally, I carry: tissues, hand lotion, sunglasses, pencil pouch, 3-pen fountain pen case, hot sauce packets and tea bags. This bag is going to take me through the end of the world.
