Our 6 Most Underrated Travel Accessories

Some travel gear gets all the glory — backpacks, briefcases, and carry-ons — the big showboats. But if you ask our team, they’ll tell you the secret behind smooth trips is in the little things. The forgotten sidekicks. The quiet heroes. The things that might never make your Instagram post, but absolutely save your trip.

In honor of travel accessories restocking in Kelpie, Selkie, and Coyote 200D Halcyon, we’re giving these underdogs their moment in the sun. They won’t ask for attention, but considering how they can completely change the way you travel, they more than deserve it.

From cinchable trays that make hotel nightstands less chaotic to mini organizers that double as day-trip companions, these 6 picks are some of our unsung heroes of travel.

1. Small Travel Tray

The Small Travel Tray is exactly what it sounds like — a compact, collapsible tray that cinches and makes packing quick and easy. It’s a portable catch-all for all of life’s tiny chaos.

Sturdy and tip-proof, the tray stays open and upright to keep all your small items securely in place. Cinch it up, toss it in your bag, and when you land, pop it open on a hotel nightstand like you own the place. Keys, earrings, receipts, pocket clutter — all finally corralled. We’ve used it for makeup, toiletries, even as a snack staging area (no shame).

2. Large Travel Tray

Same idea, just bigger. It’s great for organizing larger toiletries, chargers, cables, sunscreen bottles, and random road snacks you swear you won’t lose (but always do). Like its smaller sibling, the Large Travel Tray keeps everything standing upright, so you can see and grab what you need without rummaging. When it’s time to pack up, cinch the top and toss it back in your bag.

3. Bantam

Minimalist. Mighty. The Bantam is a compact pouch that proves great things really do come in small packages. It’s designed for travelers who want to carry just the essentials — phone, wallet, keys, passport, the items you’ll actually cry over if you lose them. — while keeping it close to you without the bulk of a full crossbody.

Use it as your in-flight personal item, a day-trip sling, a front seat road-trip companion, or even as a tech organizer inside a larger bag. With multiple carry options and a belt passthrough pocket, the Bantam is customizable for whatever your day throws your way. The Bantam is proof that less really can be more. It disappears until you need it, which is kind of the point.

4. Cubelet

The Cubelet is the ultimate travel sidekick: Small, dependable, and weirdly good at fixing messes you didn’t see coming. Power brick? On-the-go first aid supplies? Pack of cards? Emergency chocolate? It’ll hold them all. Plus, if you plan to switch bags throughout your trip, just load up the Cubelet with the essentials — no more digging through the bottom of your bag for the little things that always seem to disappear.

5. Everyday Cubelet

The Everyday Cubelet is multi-talented — part packing cube, part day bag. It has a main compartment that fits just the essentials and a little more. With one interior open-top pocket, one slanted front exterior pocket, two interior and two exterior O-rings, the Everyday Cubelet provides extra organization in a small package.

It’s a great bag for wandering along the cobblestone streets of a new city, running to grab a coffee in between flights, or carrying your travel essentials while your big bag naps back at the hotel.

6. Vertical Packing Cubelet

This one flies under the radar, and that’s exactly why we love it. This unassuming, vertically oriented cube keeps your small essentials organized without taking up extra space.

Two exterior O-rings let you clip the Vertical Packing Cubelet directly to your larger travel bags using key straps, keeping it right where you need it. No more rummaging through the main compartment — your essentials stay securely tethered and easy to grab at a moment's notice.

Big bags might get all the attention, but these little workhorses keep your travel days running smoothly.

I would love it if you brought the Q kits back. The shape is easier to stuff in corners than rectangular organizers. I can fit bulkier items, like my immersion heater and tea bags in them, that are more awkward or just don’t fit into a cubelet.

3DOC (the all fabric one) is so much easier to find my items in than the vertical version.
