Full Description

Use as a Main Compartment Organizer

On the exterior of the HLT are two Medium Swivel Double Carabiners on the thumb loops. Simply clip the Carabiners on the O-rings inside the main compartment of the Synik 30.

Once your HLT is clipped in your Synik, you can either leave it zipped shut or zipped open — in the latter case, you'd use it as a sort-of Freudian Slip.

When you need to access items out of that open-top pocket in the Synik, slide the HLT (still connected to the O-rings) up and out of the top of the Synik.

Tuck in the Bottom External Pocket Of The Synik

The HLT 2 is sized to fit in the bottom external pocket of the Synik 30 and Synapse 25.

Carry As A Minimalist Waist Pack, Sling, Or Shoulder Bag

If you've already got a 1" Gatekeeper Waist Belt from one of our other backpacks, then you can use it with the HLT.

You can also attach a 1" Shoulder Strap if you want to carry the HLT crossbody or over the shoulder. You might already have one of these if you have our Side Kick.*

If you have a heavily loaded HLT 2, you may notice that it tips outward slightly as the attachment points for the waist strap or the shoulder strap are on one side of the bag instead of two. We personally don't find this annoying, but it's worth mentioning. As we said, the HLT is primarily intended to be an internal organizer pouch.

Clip To The Seat Pocket On The Airplane

You can also clip the included Swivel Double Carabiners to the back seat pocket on the airplane seat in front of you; this way, your in-flight items — earbuds, snacks, sleeping mask, utility cloth, pen, notebook, cables, wallet, phone — are easily within reach throughout your flights.

Use As A Write-In Notebook Holder Or Work-Out-Of Tool Pouch

Slide your hand through the webbing handle loop on the back and tuck your thumb in one of the thumb loops and you have a notebook holder that rests securely in one hand* so you can take notes, write, or draw with the other hand. The notebook function works for both left-handed and right-handed people.

*Since the HLT 1 is a smaller pouch overall, people with larger hands may only be able to get three fingers through the handle, but it will still work as a write-in notebook holder regardless.

    Amazing!

I love Tom Bihn products! They are so functional and easy to use. The handy little thing is perfect for all my phone cords and charges. In addition to being the perfect size, the Handy Little Thing also clips into and out of my backpack with the use of the double swivel carabiners (which was a small charge).

    Amazing for Cable Management!

I purchased this item to upgrade and replace my large snake charmer. For several years, I used the snake charmer as a cable bag, but always found that it did not quite offer the level of organization that I was seeking. The HLT completely meets my needs in this department. It’s the perfect size to carry several different charging cables, a laptop charger, multiple pens, and several other items I need throughout the day. The footprint also works great for fitting it into the front pocket of my Pilot bag, even with the HLT fully packed out. Cannot recommend this enough for those looking for better cable management.

    Definitely handy!

Purchased this as a mini art bag organizer but have found that it’s also useful for managing important travel items like passport, RSVP printouts and multiple currencies. I’ve always had trouble keeping different currencies separate on trips through Europe, but the side by side interior pockets are great for that! One minor nit is that I wish the zippers were metal. The plastic ones feel less durable to me.

    Great organizer

This is a well thought out design. I originally planned to use it to manage my chargers (iPhone, etc) but it's not as ideal for that as I thought. Instead I am using it for work-related items (pens, highlighters, ID badge) and other travel necessities like medicine and first aid items. There is a wide variety of pocket and strap types to carry a variety of things. Big bonus here is using it with a bag. It clips on so well with my Synik 22!

Not just for airplane seat pocket

This is the solution to having too little space in the airplane seat pocket. It also clips on the magazine tray of a bulkhead when there is no seat pocket. It saves the time and hassle of moving items from your backpack into and out of the seat pocket. It is easier to retrieve items than digging them out of the seat pocket. Seat pockets already have literature in them, they are skinny, and sometimes as on my last trip they have holes in their bottoms. Just as usefully, I prep by packing the HLT inside my Sunik 30 by clipping it onto the Synik’s top front rings or web loops. I slide my Synik onto the handle of my rolling carryon bag. When sitting in the airport with that combo facing me, handle, I partially unzip the top of the backpack, flip the HLT out to face me, and unzip it. I have easy access to items such as hand sanitizer, sticky notes, pens, charger block, and charger cables.
