I have owned 4 tom bihn bags and just bought a teconaut 45. In 2015 I was about to quit my job and move to Berlin and needed something I could travel in any conditions with. After some very deep rabbit holes I found tom bihn. At first hesitant from the higher price tag but finally went for it. I’m so glad I did. I like to have few but quality things in my life and this bag has been perfect. I am a touring musician and have travelled full time for the last 10 years with this bag. It looks and functions the same as it did day one. Can’t say enough and I am writing this on a plane traveling for the first time in ten years without it. Long story but my teconaut is getting shipped to where I’m heading and had to buy a temporary bad to get there with. I got the cotopaxi alpa 42 and even though that was the best bag I could find locally it is so clearly inferior in design and quality to my aeronaut. Anyway if you’re hesitant don’t be. I only ordered the teconaut to have a slightly larger option but the aeronaut like no don’t outlive any other options out there. Thanks for the great bag !

I love this bag! I was able to use it in conjunction with a backpack for a 10-day, multi-stop trip. All of my clothes fit inside, even though I'm by no means a minimal packer: 7 shirts, 2 pants, socks and underwear, a pair of running shoes, and a down jacket. I liked having both end pockets to separate my shoes without having unnecessary amounts of organization.
Maybe it's just me, but I found carrying this as a backpack more comfortable than the Techonaut 30 when I was testing both out. Because of it's briefcase-like shape, the A30 is also leagues easier to carry around as a duffel or shoulder bag than a more conventional barrel-shaped duffel bag; your arm can hang down naturally and the bag doesn't get in the way of your legs. The waist straps are nice to have, but not necessary, while having the absolute shoulder strap is a must for this bag. The strap's little bit of bounce makes carrying the A30 so easy to carry around, even fully loaded.

I bought my bag over 8 years ago. I was looking for a well made bag to carry as a backpack or by hand, and be able to use as a carryon if going on a plane. This bag meets all of those and more. I saw this featured in a blog about traveling and being able to carry lots of items and I’m so glad I got it.

I’ve owned my Tom Bihn A30 bag for 8 years and use it all the time! It barely shows any wear and tear. All the zippers and snaps work just as well as the day I bought it. Amazing quality!
It fits my normal clothes and toiletries perfectly. Even great for drill weekend in the Army Reserves. I can fit my boots, ACU set, toiletries, and a pair of civies, no problem.
I’m about to buy a second one for my child. Highly recommend!

This is my 5th bag from Tom. I actually have an older Aeronaut 30 in gray, but all of my recent bags have been orange so I decided to get a new one. My standard travel setup is my Aeronaut 30 for clothes and my Synik 30 as my carry pack for my laptop and everything else. The Aeronaut is a fantastic bag. It has plenty of room for a business week trip full of clothes, and if I'm careful I can squeeze 7 days out of it. The side pockets are perfect for toiletries (I have a Cubelet and a 3D organizer -- they both fit in one of the side pockets), hairbrush/toothbrush, and chargers for setting up in the room. The absolute shoulder strap makes it easy to sling over my shoulder for walking through the airports. The bag fits every overhead bin including small regional jets, which means no gate-checking needed.
Personally, I'd love an option without the backpack straps, since I have the Synik as my backpack and they just add weight and bulk, but I keep the tucked out of the way inside the zipper compartment in the back and they don't really bother me.
My original gray version is still going strong. It's been with me for years, used and abused, and still looks great. It'll last forever. I've had three different friends see my bag and then go out to buy their own. I much prefer this bag's symmetric design to the Techonaut, though I can see how if you're only bringing one bag, the Techonaut might be for you.
