True to its name, the Bantam is small but has a lot of spirit.
- WPK (Wallet-Phone-Keys) bag for just your essentials
- Multiple carry options: shoulder / crossbody bag, sling / hip or belt bag
Full Description
Main Compartment
Small but formidable, the main compartment has one large interior pocket and two smaller pockets (the latter made from a mock-woven elastane fabric) to hold small things where you want. The rest is open space for your phone or pouches. An o-ring on the interior lies in wait for all your key strap needs.
Exterior Belt Passthrough Pocket
On the backside of the Bantam is a passthrough pocket measuring 2.5" / 60mm tall that fits most belts. On the top and bottom of the passthrough pocket are also two equal sized, narrow pockets that can be used to carry standard pens.
Ways to Carry the Bantam
Shoulder/Crossbody Bag
We included an adjustable 5/8" Shoulder Strap, made from nylon webbing and with the same plastic clips as our Key Straps, to attach to the O-Rings on either side of the Bantam.
Waist Pack or Sling Bag
On the sides of the bag are unobtrusive webbing loops to which you can attach an optional 1" Gatekeeper Hip Belt, using our ubiquitous Gatekeeper clips. Wear the Bantam around your waist or hips, and you've got a sweet waist pack. Wear it crossbody with the bag on your back, and you've got a mini sling bag.
Belt Bag
Slide your belt through, and the Bantam can sit nicely on your hip, in front of you, or behind you.
Wrist Bag
Clip the Handle Loop to one of the O-rings on either side of the Bantam and carry the whole affair in hand.
Organizer Pouch
Clip one side of any of our Key Straps to the Bantam and then clip the other side to an O-ring inside one of our larger bags. That way, the Bantam stays tethered to your bag.
What's Included
5/8" Shoulder Strap
A simple and light-duty shoulder strap made of 5/8" nylon webbing. It is adjustable and has plastic snaphooks at each end. It does not have extra padding.
8" Snaphook/Snaphook Key Strap
As with most of our bags, we've included a key strap. 8" long from tip-to-tip, a snaphook on either end. Good for attaching your keys to.
What's Optional
Gatekeeper Hip Belt
Attach this to the unobtrusive webbing loops on the sides of the Bantam if you want to wear this as a sling bag or waist pack.

Beautiful bag - love the material! Large enough to carry needed essentials for times when i do not need to carry many or large items. Fits my EPI-pens, phone, keys, and a small wallet . Lightweight -easy- casual bag. I like the option to wear as crossbody, in another bag , or around the waist.

I have been thinking for a while about how to optimize my bag situation during the week, and wanted a sort of smallest- common- denominator bag that will fit inside other things I need to carry during the week (backpack, smaller backpack, pannier) and can also be worn by itself (and look cool!) on days when I don’t need a bigger bag as well. For me, the bantam replaces a slightly bigger black sling from a different company that didn’t have as minimal of a form factor- that one sort of bulges out when it’s full, where as the bantam stays sleek, sits close to my body, and fits nicely in any other bag. I got the black x-pac and it’s really nice- neat, minimal, and can be casual or a little less casual. I keep my phone, keys, wallet, key card, a small notebook, pencils, sunscreen, and earbuds in there. And sometimes half a cookie or whatever else. It’s great!

Batman would love this as a utility belt. I've been using it almost daily since I picked it several weeks ago. Perfect for the essentials when hanging around town. I carry lip balm, mints, flashlight, earbuds, battery bank, SAK, sanitizer, and a pen. I've thrown in Field Notes and keys on a couple of occasions. I even add a MemoBottle sometimes. I love that it's slim and multipurpose. I got this partially to use with a hip belt on a hiking bag, or even as a sternum pack. Great materials and construction! I'd like to get a couple of more colors in different materials, eventually.

This has become one of my favorite organizers. It has the right amount of pockets and space for my daily essentials. This can fit anywhere in the TB universe if I need to carry more items more items during the day. It is truly a little gem. It also holds my key documents at the airport and can quickly be tucked away on the plane while its contents are safely secured with a small lock. And added key strap helps secure the Bantam inside of my chosen bag for personal item. I would love it if Sunglow could be used for a Reversed X-Pac Bantam. I think that would make a big statement.

Bantam… Good Things Come in Small Packages
How is it possible that the sewing together of a few pieces of fabric into a 1 liter container could be as impactful as it has been since I opened the package the Tom Bihn Bantam came in?
Yes, “sewing together of a few pieces of fabric” is a gross oversimplification and not meant to be dismissive of the entire R&D process, because it truly did impact me and, in a way that changed me from being an overpacked “lugger” of stuff to a much more streamlined carrier of daily essentials.
Just look at it up there. What’s not to love?? I thought I was crazy about my Synik 30 in black X-Pac® with the Kiwi 200 Halcyon lining — and I am — but there was just something about this little 1 liter crossbody bag that pulled me in.
The Materials
Down the rabbit hole…
Bantam is made from high quality materials that are dependent on the colorway that you choose, as well as availability at any given time. It changes all the time. The one I bought is faced with and backed by the instantly recognizable and 100% recycled RX30 black X-Pac® that they’ve been using at Tom Bihn on other products. Forming the dome and going down the sides all the way around the bottom to add structure is a ring of black 525d ballistic nylon.
The bag also uses two plastic raquet coil #5 YKK® zippers and a 5/8" Shoulder Strap made from soft webbing with a bit of a sheen to it and what appears to be a Duraflex® sliplock adjuster and YKK LN-15-Z fasteners on each end.
