It does exactly what it says it will do. Extremely high quality. Just feels nice. Maintains its shape but can also compress if not packed to the max. I use it for gym accessories including some items which get sweaty. The mesh allows everything to breath and I don’t have to worry about musky smell which would often develop in closed fabric bags. It would be nice to have a couple flat organizer pockets on the inside of each compartment to keep smaller items. Probably could have gotten the small but also now have an excuse to buy another. If there was another small tab, like what the triangle carabiner attaches to, on the opposite side of the bag it could be hung inside the top of a brain bag using a gatekeeper clip. At the same time, being able to easily pull this out of my bag and put into others, or just carry it around, is a great feature. I love Tom Bihn and all the amazing solutions they offer. No shortage of creativity. I would love a version that is mesh on one side and a slightly slimmer full fabric compartment on the other side (a hybrid of the Snake Charmer and Side Effect)

The snake charmer is one of those bags with such a versatile and useful design that it’s truly surprising no one else makes a bag quite like this. Once you buy one you’ll find so many uses. I have three in regular use: I use one for travel, one to hold (art) painting supplies, and one that is indispensable for my swim gear. The large and small are great. Get both. Here’s my complaint: the halycon fabric, though lighter weight just doesn’t have the suppleness that the older cordura based models did. The old ones feel like you can cram them full of anything every day and they’ll never be worse for the wear (the one I use for painting takes a lot of abuse and is going strong!) . I haven’t had a problem with a halycon model, but they just don’t feel as strong or as nice.

The bag fits perfectly in the front bottom pocket of my Synik 30. It enables me to keep my MacBook power cord separate from my other cables. I don't have to work to disentangle the power cord from my other, lesser used cables each time I want to use it. I can easily pull it out of the backpack when I need to access all of my cords, or I can leave it in and easily access the front pocket with the power cord.

I got my new Snake Charmer to pack my portable CPAP (Resmed) and keep all the tubing and parts organized, and it does it perfectly. One side has the CPAP and power, and the tubing, mask, and humidifier packs fit great on the other side. Its so much easier to pack now!

I’m a quilter and frequently sew on the go. The large Snake Charmer fits all tools & notions I might need whilst sewing away from home: rotary cutter; 2 sizes of scissor; sewing machine needles; spools of thread; bobbin boat; safety pins; tape measure; seam rippers; sharpies; marking pencil & leads; plastic chopstick; tweezer; stiletto; lip balm; hand lotion; calculator; and machine maintenance supplies (oil, screwdriver, dust-bunny whisk). I love that knitters (I knit & crochet too) have bags & storage needs met by Tom Bihn! I was worried all of my pointy object would get stuck in the mesh, but it had not been a problem. Something that would be helpful, for containing smaller items, would be a see-thru zip section in the middle of the bag.
