Fun Fact: The Pop Tote made its world debut as the gift bag at the 2017 Kennedy Center Mark Twain Awards for Humor honoring David Letterman, but now anyone can buy one — you needn't be famous or funny. Thank goodness.

Zip-Top Main Compartment with Flat Bottom

The main compartment is sealed with a zipper, so you can be sure your contents will not spill out. Inside, the main compartment is unobstructed and open, accommodating anything you need to carry.

The main compartment has two O-rings, located on each interior end just under the zipper. On one of the O-rings is an included Key Strap.

The bottom of the Pop Tote is flat, so it can stand up on its own without tipping over. This is helpful when you need to place the bag on the floor at work or set it down for packing right before a trip. 

Four Snaps

One of the main challenges we strived to solve with the Pop Tote is creating a tote that both seals shut with a zipper and has a wide opening. Here is where the four snaps at the top come into play:

Unzip the main compartment of the Pop Tote, snap the four snaps tight: the top edges are secured nicely out of the way so access to the main compartment is now unimpaired. In this mode, it'll serve as an open-top tote similar to our Original Shop Bags, Truck, Monster Truck, or Swift: a great utility/grocery/shopping bag. In fact, you might find you will use it this way most often. It's nice, too, if you need to fit a tall item in the bag that'll stick out the top, like a tennis racquet or baguette.

When the main compartment is zipped, it is up to you whether to leave the snaps snapped or unsnapped. Leaving them snapped will give the Pop Tote a nice concave shape at the top, when keeping them unsnapped will expand the capacity of the main compartment.

Two Open-Top Pockets

On each side of the main compartment is an open-top exterior pocket. A small umbrella, water bottle, or sunglasses can fit in them. Each pocket also includes one O-ring, from which you can tether a mini pouch or your keys.

Two Zippered Pockets

On the outside of each open-top pocket is a zippered pocket. They'll fit phones, wallets, keys, chocolate bars, and other small flat items. Each of these pockets also include one O-ring.

PORON® Foam-Padded Handles

The handles of the Pop Tote are padded with PORON® foam which makes it more comfortable to carry the bag by hand or over the shoulder.

    Brilliant EDC Bag

    I am a gear hobbyist and enjoy comparing the quality and design between different brands. That being said, I have high expectations for my EDC bag and it's capabilities. Over the years, I've explored a lot of brands like Osprey, Topo Designs, Patagonia, Timbuk2, Bellroy, etc . After some research, I came across this tote and decided to give it a try. This is my first Tom Bihn , and I am hooked. I think this will be my primary EDC and bag for these reasons:

    Positive first impressions- Craftsmanship is top notch. The reinforced straps, internal lining and external fabric stand out in it's durability. As others mentioned, I'm invested in a bag that I can be rough with. Gorgeous side panels for water bottle and quick access items- I love how they move back into the shape of the bag when not in use. The reinforced handles feel good in the hand. I do notice the straps tend to dig into my shoulders, but I tend to pack my bags on the heavier side. I am extremely indecisive between open and zipped totes, and this bag gives me the option for both.

    Improvement: I see in other reviews that internal organization is sparse. An additional internal pocket and external zipper would be a nice add-in feature, but this was not a dealbreaker. I remedy this by adding a dopp kit or internal organizer that I can switch between bags. The shape is very square with high walls, which can be strange when storing things internally.

    Pop Tote Perfection

    My very first Tom Bihn purchase is a black Pop Tote, and it’s been so great. The ONLY critique I have is that it has no inner compartments. I ended buying a side kick which resides in it, and I use little zip pouches to keep my things organized. The Pop Tote in light, rugged, comfortable and stays on my shoulder well. Love it so much, and I’m now a TB fan for life!
