I had a Co-Pilot for about fifteen years, and had long considered it the perfect bag. I finally upgraded because I got a 13" MacBook Air which would not quite fit, and also because after 15 years the Co-Pilot was starting to show some signs of wear. I can't be happier with the Pilot.
Internal organization: the bag features two large internal pockets in the main compartment, which are just large enough for a Kindle Paperwhite or an iPad Mini. In an obvious improvement from my old Co-Pilot, these are now on the internal side of the bag and not the external — this means that items placed in there have a little more protection, and also if I have my laptop on the "outside" edge of the main compartment, the bag has a little more structure. The front pockets include some internal organization as well; one side has 3 pen pockets and a wider pocket that's suitable for business cards or a couple of small tubes (hand sanitizer and lotion, for example). The other side has a larger pocket. The front middle compartment is a great place for a water bottle or even a small rain jacket or other compressible outer layer.
After much deliberation I opted for the new Spectron fabric, and after a couple of months of regular use I have been thoroughly impressed with the look and feel of this material. I think it has a little more rigidity than the old Halcyon fabric. I think it looks great as well.
