Description
Designed to serve as your in-flight personal carry-on.
That the Night Flight Travel Duffel looks suspiciously like a scaled-down version of an Aeronaut is no mistake: we took some of the same winning design elements from our most popular travel bag and morphed them into a small yet totally fetching duffel bag. Though the Night Flight is designed to be your on-board companion for air travel, you may find it tagging along on a rail, bus, or boat trip, and perhaps even to the gym. When fully loaded, its external dimensions are 17" x 10" x 9" / 432 x 254 x 229mm, just meeting the maximum size for United Airlines' "personal item." Don't over-stuff it and you should be fine with Allegiant Air's 16" x 15" x 7" / 406 x 381 x 178mm limit.
Each end has a convenient, curved-zipper pocket. These pockets can be accessed easily as you're carrying the bag or when the Night Flight is safely stowed under the seat in front of you — or even in the overhead bin. The end compartments are generously sized to accommodate in-flight snacks (not in-flight snakes), a light sweater, travel pillow, or headset; they too can be accessed more or less in situ. The end compartments have open-top pockets inside that offer further opportunities to organize and are oversized to fit an iPad Mini or other 7" tablet; they both also each have an O-ring tether point inside so you can attach Key Straps (one is included) or Organizer Pouches.
The main compartment opens via a curved zipper hatch, giving you unfettered access to the contents. The hatch itself has a mesh zippered pocket on the inside (we said the the Night Flight is a lot like the Aeronaut), offering another place to stow and organize the small stuff needed during your journey — there's one O-ring tether point in there too. Inside the main compartment there's room for a change of clothes; you could use the Night Flight Travel Duffel as your only bag for a one or two night getaway. Four O-ring tether points in the main compartment allow you to take the organization thing one step further (or four steps further really)
The main compartment comes standard with a removable foam pad. This foam gives the bag some additional body and offers a little extra protection for high-priority devices like cameras, lenses, CPAP machines, etc. The inner surface of the foam is laminated to a soft, Velcro-compatible fabric so that you can make use of the optional Night Flight Duffel Camera Insert. These padded dividers will allow you to organize and protect whatever breakable or delicate items you want, technological or not (probably not Fabergé eggs, but you get the idea). If you find the foam padding isn't useful and is in the way, no worries: just yank it out — we won't tell.
The Night Flight Travel Duffel is carried by its padded handle or with an attachable shoulder strap. It comes standard with our, well, Standard Shoulder Strap, but you can upgrade to our Absolute Shoulder Strap if your load will be heavy or your miles long. At either end of the bag we've added convenient yet magically unobtrusive "drawer pull" handles: small cut-outs that allow you to pull the Night Flight from under a seat or out of an overhead bin
We tried to think of everything. See you at 30,000 feet.
