Great bag - very similar to some of Bellroy's Cinch line. The Spectron is beautiful and flexible, and for this design I think it works better than Ballistic as it has more give.
The structured base is amazing. Often crossbody bags in Spectron or Halcyon are too unstructured and don't hold weight as well as Ballistic, however the base solves that. Great stuff.
Why not five stars?
1. The front and back pockets are very tight, and because of this are fiddly to access. Worse on the Ballistic. A little more material or making them slightly wider would go a long way. Would also make it easier to tuck away the straps or handles.
2. Some of the slip pockets are very narrow, as with a lot of TB bags. It would be good to move with the times, make them twice as wide and then they could fit a cable or still be narrow enough for pens.
3. There was quite a lot of loose stitching ends, which isn't great for the price.
4. It would be good to have more O-rings. Two each side around the outside seam instead of one. Two in the front zipped compartment instead of one. Two each side in the main comparetment instead of one, and one at on each inside side panel.
5. Add drainage holes to the main compartment, for moisture but mainly for debris due to the seam around the base.
6. Wonder if the base should be Ballistic for abrasion resistance.
Just tiny tweaks, but would go a long way!

I haven’t used it over the long term yet, but so far the Forager is great. It’s my first Spectron bag and it’s strong but lightweight. The Bordeaux color is nicer than I expected. I took it to the farmer’s market this morning and was able to fit quite a lot of small/medium sized size stuff in it comfortably. My favorite feature is the carry handles, which are comfortable in-hand and over the arm. Also love the bottom shape, which helps the bag stand up on its own yet snuggles comfortably against me when carrying it crossbody. The fully lined interior is the icing on the cake. TB, if you make this in more colors I would probably buy another one.
My only complaint is the *#!%= squeaky crossbody strap attachment points. It was fine until the bag was fully loaded and then started squeaking with every step. This is my 2nd squeaky TB bag and it’s beyond irritating. I hope I can find a way to fix it because it might be my favorite TB bag otherwise.

I love the size of this bag and that it can hold all my essentials plus a book and water bottle. I like all the pockets for organization and the drawstring closure so I can expand the size of if I need to. Great versatility with the handles and rings for the shoulder strap.

I have to confess, I sort of bought this bag on a whim. I like carrying totes and backpacks and I must confess that I have probably more Tom Bihn bags than I can maybe justify. Let’s just say I have enough Bihn bags to be able to rotate through them on a regular basis. I love the quality and I like the looks a lot. I’m an unreconstructed hippie and my Bihn bags satisfy my need to carry things in a casual bag that looks smart.. A tote bag is sometimes a little too big so when I saw the Forager, I thought “open top, expands, ability to close”. So I bought one. I have been using it 24 seven since. As expected with a Bihn bag, it is well-made and sturdy enough that to be heirloom quality.
I like the open bag that gives me an ability to hide my wallet yet drop things into that I want to access quickly, like my journal and my camera. And I really like that it expands to let me put in those veggies I see at the farmers market, or that skein of yarn that is just too good of a deal.
This is a great everyday bag. Try it.
