Perfect knitting project bag!
These travel trays are the perfect size, design, and material to use for travel knitting/craft project bags! They're structured enough to use as open "bowl"-style storage, or you can cinch the top, pull the yarn through the gap, and keep things contained while knitting on the go. The rip-proof fabric stands up to any needles, scissors, or other notions you might toss in there. They hold a surprising amount of yarn AND squish into a carry-on like a dream. I find the large trays to be the perfect size for a variety of project types, but I've heard the smaller one is great if you're a sock knitter. I now own three, and have gifted several to knitting friends over the years to great acclaim!

Phenomenal! I got 2 my first time around!
I got both small tray and 2 large tray version in Kelpie- and let me tell you, it has exceeded every expectation. This thing just survived Burning Man with me, and that’s saying something.
Like its smaller sibling, this tray is a complete game-changer for organization. It transforms chaos into order effortlessly - whether it’s my expanded art supply collection, camping gear, electronics, or any combination of essentials that need to travel together. The construction quality is absolutely phenomenal: lightweight enough for easy transport but built like it could withstand anything.
And it proved that durability at Burning Man. When the weather turned nasty - dust storms, unexpected rain, you name it - everything tucked safely inside this large travel tray survived completely unscathed. While other people were scrambling to protect their gear, my essentials were already secure and organized.
The genius design shines just as bright in the larger size: arrive at your destination, uncinch the drawstring, pull it back, and it stands perfectly on its own. Well-designed for travel, wish sizes were a bit better described
I love the travel tray concept: it cinches into a drawstring bag-esque design for transport, and then once you get where you're going the top half off the sides fold down to make it a bit more rigid so it can stand upright as a catchall on a hotel nightstand, next to a sleeping bag in a tent, or anywhere else you might find yourself wanting to not lose smaller odds and ends.
If I had to find a complaint, it would be that I'd love for it to have an O-ring on the inside. In "drawstring mode", as I call it, I'd love to be able to clip in a pouch with some charging cables, etc. so I have a ready-to-go nightstand station.
I'll also note that the large size is quite large, and realistically I probably would have been better off with a small. Not worth dinging it in my rating, but I'd say the large is plenty big for 2+ people, whereas I wanted it just for myself.

Turns out this makes a good yarn bowl
I bought the Large Travel Tray with the intent of using it to corral small items when traveling. But I immediately put it into use as a yarn 🧶 bowl as I learn to knit. I normally roll my yarn into balls, and this lets them move around without rolling away. I have Yarn Stuff Sacks to hold small projects (wish they cinched closed better), but I like the corded edge that makes this function like a basket.
