The Front: Built for Extra Gear
On the front of the Smart Alec 2.0, you’ll find a series of loops that can be used with 1" Gatekeeper clips or a large swivel double carabiner to attach organizers (such as a Bantam or Side Effect) to the bag—from the bottom base all the way to the top of the front zipper pocket panel.
Additionally, the three front sets of loops come pre-laced with an elastic cord, secured by a sliding lock. This cord is ideal for stashing items like jackets, racquets, or other large, oddly shaped objects that might not fit easily in the main compartment. If you prefer a cleaner look, the elastic cord can be removed.
Spacious Main Compartment
The Smart Alec 2.0 features a top-loading main compartment that gets out of your way and lets you pack your way. It's secured with a heavy-duty #10 YKK Racquet-Coil water-repellent zipper and lockable metal sliders—designed to keep your gear dry and secure, no matter the weather.
Inside, you’ll find an open-topped laptop compartment, two zippered pockets at the top of the back panel, and a center-line internal water bottle pocket. The rest is wide open—ready for you to pack what you want, how you want.
There are also four O-rings for attaching pouches or small items, so they don’t get lost in the generous open space. It’s roomy enough to fit a motorcycle helmet, a lunch, a parka—whatever the day calls for.
Dual-Access Laptop Pocket
The padded laptop pocket in the Smart Alec 2.0 can be accessed in two ways: through the top-loading main compartment or via a convenient side zipper—perfect for quick access on the go. The open-topped compartment is secured with a hook-and-loop strip to keep your laptop in place. Prefer not to use it? Just fasten the strip onto itself and tuck it behind the pocket.
The pocket is sized to fit laptops up to the 16" MacBook Pro, and features a padded bottom to protect your device when you set your bag down.
Expandable Side Pockets
The Smart Alec 2.0 features two exterior side pockets in addition to the main compartment. They lie flat when zipped up, but expand to offer a surprising amount of storage. One pocket includes built-in pen slots for organizing smaller items, while the other has an internal holster—perfect for holding a water bottle, umbrella, towel, or any other tubular object that strikes your fancy.
Built for Comfort and Travel
If you’ve used any of our more recent bags, the back panel on the Smart Alec 2.0 will feel familiar—it’s based on the same skeleton-style design as the Techonaut. Like that back panel, it offers venting for airflow, padding for all-day comfort, a luggage passthrough for roll-aboard handles (fits handles up to 8.5" / 215mm wide), and a space for an optional internal frame sheet.
