Description
Made out of ultra-light top quality Mesh and Aether fabric from Japan, our Packing Cubes are designed to help you most efficiently utilize the space inside your travel bag and keep your clothes neat and organized.
Aeronaut 30 Packing Cubes effectively create compartments-within-compartments in your bag. They corral your shoes or rolled, folded, or bundled clothes, keeping them tidy. Worth noting: Tom designed the Aeronaut 30 to be a joy to pack with or without Packing Cubes, so they’re totally optional. The Aeronaut 30 is basically a bag you can live out of and never have to unpack: its end pockets do a great job of keeping rolled clothes neat and you’ll find that folded clothes don’t shift around too much in the main compartment, especially if you use the tie-down straps. That said, Packing Cubes can be a great addition for those of us who appreciate the additional organization and compartmentalization that they provide.
Here are two sample packing strategies using our Aeronaut 30 Packing Cubes:
#1: “Just a couple of Packing Cubes”
One End Pocket Packing Cube for running shoes or a second pair of shoes, and one Small Laundry Packing Cube for underwear and/or gym clothes. Use the tie-down straps to secure slacks and shirts, and roll t-shirts to put in one of the end compartments.
#2: “Totally Organized”
Two End Pocket Packing Cubes (one for each End Pocket compartment), and either two Large (regular or Laundry), one Large and two Small (regular or Laundry), or four Small. Use a 3D Clear Organizer Cube (attached via a 16” Key Strap) as a 3-1-1 liquids/toiletries bag.
Of course, the various sizes of Packing Cubes that we offer you allow you to come up with your own packing strategy. The main compartment of the Aeronaut 30 can fit either two Large Packing Cubes (regular or Laundry) stacked one on top of the other, one Large and one Aeronaut 30 Packing Cube Backpack, one Large plus two Small Packing Cubes, four Small Packing Cubes (stacked one on top of the other, or interlocking like bricks), or four End Pocket Packing Cubes. In either end pocket of the Aeronaut 30, use one End Pocket Packing Cube, or an Aeronaut 30 Travel Laundry Stuff Sack. Want to dive even deeper into the world of packing organization? Types of Packing Cubes
All Aether
End Pocket Packing Cube only. It’s designed for items you want to keep separate from other stuff in your bag—like shoes.
Mesh + Aether
The Small and Large Packing Cubes are offered in Mesh + Aether.
Laundry
The cube version of our Travel Laundry Stuff Sack, Laundry Packing Cubes have two zippered compartments. One side is Mesh + Aether, one side is All Aether, and between the two sides is an Aether divider. Clean clothes go in the Mesh side and dirty clothes go in the Aether side.
Materials
Mesh
Our high-quality U.S.-made Mesh fabric offers two main benefits: first off, it allows you to see what’s inside the Packing Cube, but doesn’t make the contents so visible that the person behind you in line at the TSA checkpoint will know if you prefer boxers or briefs. Secondly, by its very nature (being mesh and all), it is a fabric that is mostly about its lack of fabric—it’s very light in weight.
Aether
Aether is an ultra-light, 100% nylon fabric from Japan. It has a unique and complex construction, combining 30 denier monofilament (warp and weft) with both 100 denier and 200 denier yarns in a micro-ripstop weave to further increase its tear strength. Aether is very light in weight yet provides an almost paper-like structure that we find helps to add some body to our Packing Cubes—which, in turn, makes them easier to pack.
Also available is the aforementioned Aeronaut 30 Packing Cube Backpack: use it as a packing cube inside the Aeronaut 30 and, once you reach your destination, unpack it for use as lightweight backpacks as you explore your destination.
