A video by maverick

1. Feed one end of the cord into one side of the inner sheath. The teeth inside the inner sheath will hold the cord in place.

2. Feed the outer sheath onto the cord with the larger opening of the outer sheath towards the inner sheath.

3. Feed the free end of the cord through the metal pull or the zipper slider.

4. Feed the free end of the cord through the outer sheath.

5. Feed the free end of the sheath into the other side of the inner sheath.

6. Align the opening of the outer sheath with the inner sheath and press down firmly to finish assembling the cord pull.

Many TOM BIHN bags come with Cord Zipper Pulls (ID, Ego, Super Ego, Buzz and others) on at least some of their zippers while other bags come exclusively with metal zipper pulls (Aeronaut andEmpire Builder, and others). The main advantage that a cord pull has over a metal pull is the cord pull is significantly quieter than the metal pull: you won't get that "I'm being followed by a golden retriever" sound with cord pulls. This can be a significant difference with a bag like the Aeronaut which has numerous zippers. The disadvantage of cord pulls is that if you want to lock two sliders together with a luggage lock, someone could easily cut the cords.

Now you have the option of buying extra Cord Zipper Pulls to use in addition to or instead of metal zipper pulls. Directions can be found in the grey boxes to the left, but be sure to read the warning below before cutting off your metal zipper pulls.

For $3.00, you'll receive parts for 8 Cord Zipper Pulls: 8 cords and 16 plastic zipper pull parts. (It takes two plastic zipper pull parts to make one complete zipper pull.)

*Note: Some people will choose to add the Zipper Cord Pull to the metal zipper pull rather than replacing the metal pull. Others will choose to remove the metal zipper pull and replace it entirely with the Zipper Cord Pull.

Make sure you've decided that you never want metal zipper pulls again: once you've cut the metal pulls off you can't put them back on.

Once you've cut off your metal zipper pulls, that part of your bag is no longer covered under our Lifetime Guarantee: i.e., you can't cut off your metal zipper pulls then send your bag back to us to have the zipper replaced because you want the metal zipper pulls back (the rest of the bag is still covered by our guarantee).

Once the metal pulls have been removed from a bag, we cannot accept the bag back for exchange, refund or credit.
