Description

The Gatekeeper Waist Strap can be added to many of our bags; it offers extra stability when you're hiking, riding your bike (push or motor), or running to catch the bus. Attaches with Gatekeepers and closes with a side-release buckle that adjusts on both sides.

Available in one size that extends to 37" / 94 cm. Made of 1" webbing.

Bags that have webbing loops for — but don't come with — a Gatekeeper Waist Strap include the Aeronaut 45, Aeronaut 30, Tri-Star, Western Flyer, Small Café Bag, Medium Café Bag, Side Kick, and Side Effect.

Bags that have webbing loops for and do come with a Gatekeeper Waist Strap include the Synapse 25, Synapse 19, Synik 30, Synik 22, Brain Bag (a special 1.5" Gatekeeper Waist Strap), Guide's Pack (in Coyote), Luminary 12, Luminary 15, Daylight Backpack, Maker's Bag, Ristretto, and the Aeronaut 30 Packing Cube Backpack.

Well-made, but too easy to adjust

The additional utility it gives to my Side Effect is well appreciated. The materials and construction are excellent; I don't see them wearing out for a very long time.

However, it is too easy to adjust. If I try to adjust the position of my bag or even bump my hand into the strap, the strap has a chance of loosening up, creating the minor inconvenience of having to tighten the strap again.

Difficult to attach and remove

I have such a difficult time attaching and then removing this from my side kick. I always have to have someone do it for me.

works well as a sling strap

I'm using this as a sling strap across one shoulder and around my chest for a Side Effect on my back, working pretty well for running. Needed a stabilizer strap as well, and I happened to be at REI when I was researching what to get, and found this there: https://www.rei.com/product/162155 - REI Co-op Packmod Accessory Straps - Package of 2. This worked out well - can get by with just one of those.

Should mention the fit is perfect for my bulky 42" chest. Might be too tight for larger folks, but I'm sure some kind of matching extension would work.
