We think the Lifefactory is pretty tough. Still, we know some folks are concerned about a glass water bottle breaking, so we decided to capture the toughness of the Lifefactory bottle on video. Note that if you really want to, you can probably break this bottle. If you have kids who might throw their water bottles around, we wouldn't recommend giving them a Lifefactory bottle. For the average person (like us), we think it's pretty great to be able to drink water that tastes like water, thanks to the glass.

Environmentally Friendly Packaging

While the Lifefactory Glass Water Bottle is so tough that it doesn't need much padding for shipment, we knew we'd still have have to include some kind of padding. Packing peanuts? Irritating. Bubble Wrap? Wasted plastic. Enter Geami Packing Material. It's renewably sourced, biodegradable and 100% recyclable. Additionally, the 50lb Kraft paper used to make Geami packing materials have received third party certification from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). This SFI certifications assures that the fibers used to make Geami packaging wrap are derived solely from sustainably managed forests. Your Lifefactory Glass Water Bottle will be wrapped in Geami Packing Material then placed in, depending on if you order the bottle alone or with other items, either a cardboard tube or one of our custom-sized TOM BIHN logo boxes.

Which TOM BIHN bags do we recommend for use with the Lifefactory Bottle?

The Lifefactory Glass Water Bottle will nicely fit inside of the Medium Cafe Bag, Large Cafe Bag, Empire Builder, Zephyr, Checkpoint Flyer, Swift, Shop Bag, Imago, and Little Swift.

It clips to the front carabiner of the Brain Bag and fits nicely in the water bottle pockets of the Smart Alec and Synapse.

The 22oz LifeFactory bottle will fit in the water bottle pockets of the Tri-Star, Buzz, Western Flyer, ID, Ego, and Super Ego, though the bottle looks a little tall in those pockets. We don't think it would fall out, but it looks as though it might. We will be offering a 16oz version of the Lifefactory bottle soon - it will be a better fit for the water bottle pockets of those bags.

The 16oz version of the Lifefactory bottle - likely available for order in November - will fit nicely inside of the Co-Pilot and Small Cafe Bag.

"There are plenty of alternatives to disposable water bottles out there and I've tried most if not all of them. IMHO, the Lifefactory bottle is head and shoulders above the rest. The glass has no flavor, takes no flavor and leaves no flavor. It's the epitome of earth-friendly: not petroleum based and infinitely recyclable. Easy to clean, and easy to know when it needs to be cleaned. Lifefactory adds a thin silicone sleeve that makes the glass far less likely to slip from your grip and protects the glass from minor bumps and drops. The screw cap is BPA-free polypropylene and has a handy loop/bail that allows you attach the bottle to a carabiner (or the new clip on the front of the Brain Bag). The wide-mouth opening is great for dropping in a few ice cubes, lemon slices or spooning in fruit juice concentrate; makes cleaning that much easier too.
On top of all these details are the aesthetics: Lifefactory bottles are easy on the eyes, and refreshing on the palate too - water tastes like water again. For me, staying hydrated is no longer a chore but something to which I look forward."

Note: Lifefactory beverage bottles are made from soda lime glass. This is the same container glass used for wine bottles and other food storage containers. It is strong but not impervious to rapid temperature changes or impact. Like any bottle, it will expand and crack if left in the freezer or hit with boiling water.
