Actually, this is a great idea. When my wife and I travel, we stay in the least expensive places that have just the standard ameneties. The room is just a place to sleep at night or for a quick nap in the afternoon. When we travel, we go to see as much of an area as we can.

Seems like you are spoiled for choice in super-small budget hotels in the UK--Easy Hotel has pretty much the same set of a la carte charges for basic amenities. Some of their rooms come without windows! And if you are looking for a room at the airport, there's the Yotel rooms in Heathrow and Gatwick. Teeny tiny indeed, but you're right in the terminal for those early morning flights.
Of course, the Japanese got there first with their capsule hotels.
Come to think of it, Tom Bihn customers would be an ideal customer base: interested in light, efficiently coordinated packing...
