    Daylight Backpack

I am really excited about the Daylight Backpack!

I didn't see it in the description (or maybe I missed it), but will it (or could it) have webbing loops + gatekeeper clips so that you could attach a Cache with Rails?

Also, the Daylight Backpack page doesn't mention the interior lining colors. Could we add that? (Thanks! )

It was a tough decision, but I ended up deciding on French Blue. But now I'm wondering if I should have gone with the Black Dyneema. This is always the hardest part...

Remember I am native German. That means I have sometimes to take a second or two to get the pronouncation right in my head. With this pack the first word I hear in my head is "delight". I love the chosen name but wouldn't it be nice if this Backpack turns out to be as delightful as it is "on paper"?

I think you went right with French Blue. There are black Backpack all over the place (even so not as well thought out) but French Blue is special. I think that fits.

    Thanks Ilkyway!

Nordic would have be lovely, as well!

Tom Bihn bags need to be offered in 3 pack and 5 pack options so that we don't have to choose just one color...

I was told, when I called in yesterday with some color questions, that the interior of the Cordura Daylight Backpack bags were lined in Steel Parapack. I didn't ask about Gatekeeper clips + Cache with Rails, but from the pictures, description, and from the factors behind the design given on the product page, I would guess that this backpack does not use Gatekeeper clips and the rail design for caches in the interior. Instead, it seems to me to be a very light-weight backpack that extends the idea of the Packing Cube Backpack made in more durable 400d Dyneema, but shaped to work better and more comfortably as a backpack, and to provide some inside and outside pocket organization so that tablets and light laptops can be held inside in caches, with useful outer pockets.

This is only my conjecture, however. There is also the option to offer this as a lightweight backpack in other colors (Cordura) as well as the 400d Black Dyneema. In the spirit of the lighter weight and more flexible design, since they stated they were not able to add the kind of Dri-lex foam backpad that is present for the Synapse, and now for the Smart Alec, I would assume they'd capitalize on optimizing the light weight design by providing a tiered set of internal pockets for padded caches rather than a rail design. Again, this is only hypothesis on my part.

This little daypack so perfectly fits a gap in my bag lineup that I have just ordered three, in burnt orange, French blue and navy.

Of course, two are for my sons (officially). If you don't have any sons I highly recommend acquiring some on an honorary basis - they make excellent enablers/smoke screens for TBAS.

The orange is for me. As soon as I saw it I heard it call my name....

@Maverick, I saw a French Blue daylight pack at the store today, and it was absolutely gorgeous. Since I have more backpacks than I can count, I did not bring it home, and yet I cannot get it out of my mind...I think you are going to love it! And the daylight pack is even nicer looking in person than in the photos. I don't even like cordura normally, but the cordura colors look phenomenal. The black dyneema is nice too, but I already have my quota of black dyneema, and the vibrant colors make this pack fun.

I think he was referring to France and Ilkyway's native Germany meeting up at the World Cup on Friday.

To quote the late, great Bill Shankly:

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'

I did not want to mention the world cup here because it is so complicated (well not anymore since USA is out). But for us Germans the game USA/Germany was special because it was in reality a German/German game. You trainer was the boss of our trainer. We where disapointed when he left back than but after a while we found out, that the better half of that team staid here. But can I say thous things in an American Forum? Is my live in danger now? Or worse? (Looking afraid in Mikings direction...).

And as to the German/French Game on Frieday: They make good wine over there and they have by far the better taste in food but succer??? Well, we are the BEST!

(And if we loose I wont talk about that. So you can point and laugh all you want than: I will show no reaction!)

    ;-)

Back to topic: My Daylight Backpack will be here on Mondey (in plum!) if nothing happens on its way over. I am not sure if I can defend it against my girls... we will see. I want to try it as a bag-in-bag in my Smart Alec. Will report how this turns out. Why a backpack in a backpack? I leave my Smart Alec always in the car when we have supper with colleagues at a restaurant because I feel uncomfortably to bring such a huge backpack into a restaurant. But in the SE or my UMP-Modification my notebook and calander do not fit. So this might be the solution. If not the Co-Pilot will have to do the trick but I'd prefer a Backpack to do the job.
