Retired - but not replaced?
The lead post on this thread says:
"Imago is being retired to make way for new designs debuting later this year."
It doesn't actually say there's a replacement coming. The new designs - Founders Briefcase & Pilot - certainly aren't imago replacements.
I began my Tom Bihn purchases with the Co-Pilot and Cadet as I didn't know about messenger bags stylistically (more hipsterish?) and also functionally (the flap getting in the way). However in use, I've come to see that messenger bags are for me, more functional (probably in part because I often commute to work by bicycle) - flaps are quick to open and the Q-AM strap allows for very quick adjustment - high on the back for transport, then swing to front & lower the bag for easy access without taking it off.
Currently I have a Large Cafe Bag and the one thing I wonder about is whether a horizontal design would be easier to "root around in" with my hands while the bag is still on my person. The LCB is deep and perhaps the shallowness of a horizontal design might work better for me - hard to know without testing.
Unfortunately, Tom's smallest horizontal messenger design at the moment is the ID, which is a much larger and more structured bag - too much bag for me, for example I definitely don't need water bottle holding. (To be a curmudgeon for a moment, I don't get the whole water bottle thing. I drink from a public fountain or ask for a cup of water or, if I get a water bottle - drink it and be done with it! But that's me. :) ).
So I would like to see an Imago replacement, and I wonder if one might be coming in the future - but it doesn't sound like it.
