We saw a prototype of the new Side Effect today. It's amazing in ballistic. Not sure yet when it'll be up for pre-order, though, and we'll reveal no more until then. :)
Original designs. Made in the U.S.A.

Wahoo! Will it make it to my order waiting to ship on Feb 25? Delay shipment 1-2 weeks to wait for new sude effect???? :)
Just a thought on the upcoming larger Synapse... it would be neat if it had a small patch of discreet loop-only Velcro on the outside of the bag (say, 2"x3") for patches, name tags, or whatnot. And to make things even cooler, maybe a small area of loop-only Velcro on the inside of the main compartment to attach third-party hook-Velcro-backed accessories (admin panels, elastic organizers, etc.).
My son would like a padded wallet. The one side clear for his school ID, the middle section for his cash and what not, and the back section padded for his iPod or even a phone when he turns 12. Oh, and he would like a bright color for the padded part, not just black. There. I said I would mention it, and I did. (My thought is a padded pouch attached to a wallet with a key strap and call it good...see my current order.)

Your solution is very smart!
While ID and cash are not likely to change size any time soon, one day he might want to swap the phone for an iPad or iPad Mini, this is where Padded Pouches and Caches, in different sizes, shine.
Speaking of iPads, any update on the iPad Mini/FJN new creation? Has Tom finished the brainstorming, design to sewing, or is he already at the prototype phase?

A TB overnight bag?? Any suggestions? What do others use? I would love a mini- Aeronaut. Thanks for any suggestions.... Not a backpack, though, a bag.
I'm still hoping for a Dyneema Steel/UV Synapse.
Synapse (Indigo/Solar), Side Effect (Plum/Wasabi), Organizer Pouches ( Dyneema, Cordura, Cork - various size & colors), FoJ Pouch, FoT Pouch, 2011 Cork TB Mystery gift, 2012 Forest/Steel Mystery Gift, 3D Clear Organizer Cube (Indigo), Sm Yarn Stuff Sack (UV), Small Shop Bag (Steel), Large Shop Bag (UV), Various Color Key Straps
I have : many pouches & wallets & 3D Cubes & CQPCs & Stuff Sacks & Shop Bags, plum & black Side Effects, steel/ultraviolet Citizen Canine, black FJN, plum/wasabi SCB, Cork Little Swift, black/steel Co-Pilot, old plum/olive LCB, plum/black (C) Swift, old plum/olive (C) Imago, old plum/wasabi Ruck's Sac, steel WF/TS PCB, plum/solar & black/ultraviolet (C) Synapses, black/iberian Smart Alec, steel Brain Bag.
I would looooooove a mini-Aeronaut!!! It has been mentioned several times in the past on the forum as being in development but no concrete news as of yet, if I could put a full sized aeronaut in the shrinking machine I would. It is the perfect design for a bag but it is a monster and is overkill for anything shorter than a week.
I am also EXTREMELY curious about the iPad mini FJN. I wonder if by a generous gift of chocolate I could convince Darcy to "accidentally" include a picture of an iPad mini FJN prototype in the background of a factory picture on the blog??
Chocolatey chocolatey bribery... Think about it.... ;)
I know I'm not the first and probably won't be the last but here's another vote for Solar to be resurrected as a lining even if nothing else. It's a very happy and exceptionally practical colour. If I'd got in quick enough I'd now be the proud owner of one of the last Citizen Canine bags in Navy/Solar and I'd love another chance at that, but in general for travel bags a pale coloured lining is genius. Of the available colours now, only Wasabi really fits that bill and (sorry!) Wasabi really doesn't float my boat! As I'm travelling more for work recently I am feeling that I may have to bite the bullet and get an Aeronaut, but not sure of the colour combination if I can't have something with Solar lining.
I'd also love to see a dedicated gym bag with a waterproof section. I'm a Bikram (hot) yogi and every class needs a pair of shorts, a mat towel (I use Yogitoes Skidless) and a showering towel; I usually end up rolling that sweaty, soggy lot up in a disposable polythene carrier bag to carry it home. A waterproof inner bag section, removable so it can be cleaned easily, within a bigger bag, would be ideal. Or just a robust waterproof inner bag I can use in whatever bag or pack I'm carrying.
I wouldn't mind a yoga mat bag, either... Currently I use a cylinder bag with a shoulder strap, but it's a nuisance to carry separately from my main backpack and a pain to try to attach the mat bag to the backpack because the result is usually unwieldy with bits sticking out and flapping around at all angles. Needs some genius to be applied to a coherent solution!
A belt clip option for the Citizen Canine would be useful, rather than a waist strap. If life gets a bit less mad soonish I may order some gatekeeper clips and other bits from the parts department and see if I can bolt something together myself!
Finally I'd love a postage option to the UK which doesn't require me to mortgage myself to UPS. I've only ever had one delivery from TB and had to batch stuff together to keep the relative delivery costs down, which is how I missed my preferred colour on the Citizen Canine. There has to be a reliable international delivery option which doesn't cost nearly as much as some of the bags!
Hi, I'm new! And already making demands... : -)
1) Aeronaut in Olive/Wasabi.
2) Smaller Aeronaut (also in Olive/Wasabi) for briefer and/or international trips.
3) Even Larger Cafe Bag -- a bit wider, maybe a bit less tall, large enough to house a 13" Air in a Cache. (I'd like this in -- you guessed it -- Olive/Wasabi. And also Black/Wasabi). Yes, I know about the Ristretto, but I prefer horizontal to vertical messenger bags. And I love the look of the Cafe Bags.
4) A gym bag that's kind of like a small, divided Aeronaut. It would have side compartments like the Aeronaut -- one for shoes, one for a toiletry kit. (One of those side compartments would also have built-in organizer pockets for a phone and a pen, as well as O-rings to which one could attach keys, an organizer pouch for the gym card, and maybe a clear wallet.) The main compartment would be divided into three sections: front, middle, and back. The center section could fit gear and a water bottle. One of the outside sections (let's say back) could hold clean clothes and a hairdryer plus hairbrushes. The other outside section (let's say front) could hold wet and dirty clothes. The entire front panel of the bag would be mesh instead of cordura or dyneema, so the items in that section could breathe and dry a bit instead of festering and mildewing all through the work day. Oh, and the middle section could have a little drain hole like the Co-Pilot, in case the water bottle leaks or the gear gets wet! Or, wait, maybe that's a bad idea, since you wouldn't want the bag to suck up water if you accidentally set it on a damp patch at the gym. So, whatever. I'd be happy with or without a drain hole for the middle section.
Incidentally, I recognize that my gym bag desires are highly specific and maybe not something for which there is a larger market. But since we're wishing...
I wish there was a version of the clear organizer wallet with a gusseted front pocket (on one or both sides) , so I could get to my coins more easily. The rest should stay the same though, so it stays nice and slim.
Aeronaut design in TriStar size.
I want to see the so-far mythical Pilot.
A Tom Bihn designed travel vest, a la a ScotteVest.
Not likely I know but I can hope.
