Where is the Tom Bihn gym bag?

    Hi,

I recently did a Google search for a Tom Bihn gym bag and I got several posts dating back several years that said Tom was busy designing a dedicated gym bag. What happened?

I know that some people use other Tom Bihn bags as impromptu gym bags, but that's not what I'm referring to. I would definitely buy a beautifully designed TB gym bag that had dedicated compartments for gym shoes; dirty/wet workout clothes; dry clean clothes; phone/keys small pocket; possibly a bottle holder and any/all features that a good gym feature.

The big draw for this TB bag would be the signature quality materials, design and construction.

Look, there are many TB backpacks, travel bags, etc. How about a REAL gym bag, guys? A bag specifically for that purpose, replete with killer Tom Bihn design sense and inherent quality, would sell to a very grateful market.

    Please?!

    Thanks,

    Mike

I'd be happy with a simple "Packing Cube Duffle Bag" the size of the Packing Cube Backpack for the Tri-Star/Western Flyer, but in the shape of the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag. That would make an awesome simple gym bag for me!

I'd love(1000000000) a Packing Cube Duffel...I'd put baby stuff in it, LOL. :)

Thanks for your interest. I get it about the "Packing Cube Backpack" concept. Still, I'd much prefer to have a full-bore, no-holds-barred "Tom Bihn Gym Bag," a duffle bag with dedicated: separate, ventilated shoe compartment, wet/dry clothes compartment(s), workout gear storage (for gloves, heart rate monitor components, water bottle, toiletries, towel, etc.), and multiple easy-access zippered pockets for small/valuable stuff (phone, keys, wallet, etc.). The TB Gym Bag would be large enough to hold everything listed, but small enough to fit into a locker (24"x12"x10", or so).

With all the great TB innovations in travel, messenger, backpacks and briefcases, designing this gym bag seems relatively simple, no? Again, various posts from TB staff stated that Tom was designing such a bag several years ago.

Darcy? Someone from the company? Can we get a ruling, please?

    Many thanks for your consideration,

    Mike

The gym bag is still in the works. In fact, the first prototype is just a few feet away from me, though we don't have an estimate yet as to when it will be available for pre-order.

Darcy, please look on the other side of you - take a photo of the small brain bag sitting only a few feet away from you; post the photo and pre-order date effectivity. :) Yay!

Could this duffel be the answer to everyone's 'smaller aeronaut' or is it designed with outside mesh and shoe pockets to where only gym people will want it? I think a slightly smaller than aeronaut, one-compartment duffel with backpack straps would be awesome. I have waited so long for BadBags to stick on backpack straps but they keep giving me empty future promises. For a travel bag, yes I pack shoes, and I PREFER to put each shoe in a plastic bag and stick it wherever it fits inside the bag. Having a 'shoe compartment' just means there will be extra space there that could have been better used elsewhere. Single shoes EASILY fit in snug between and around packing cubes. Maybe Tom needs to release a Gym Duffel and a Travel Duffel!
