I am also anxiously awaiting an update :-)
One of our recent Twitter updates:
"Tom has finished all Field Journal Notebook patterns. Once we have made our final paper choice, we can put the FJN up for pre-order."

"final paper choice": I hope you looked at Levenger paper. That's the best I've come across—heavy and smooth.
I think the Field Journal is one of their most anticipated products :-) I can't wait to see what it's like. It'll be very unlikely that I won't order one!
I volunteer to test the Field Journal (written from the field).

I assume it's the pic with the two woman, and the gentleman holding what would be the "field journal". I couldn't see it very well, but what I could see looked similar to the Moleskine folio over at Rickshaw.
I zoomed it, looks marvelous. :) I am so going to enjoy this. :D

It is quite awesome. It's one of the most specialized things we make in both build and materials. There are die-cut parts and special stitching that required a new sewing machine. Choosing papers alone was a huge deal. I really can't wait to share more with everyone!
dapv: Just took a look at that product - maybe that it also has pen pockets and is roughly a square-ish shape, but other than that, there's no similarity.
