    Cordura and lint

    Hi all,

I have been researching for bags for my upcoming trip and ended up here. Just received my first TB bag (MCB) and is eagerly waiting for my Synapse in Dyneema.

Just wondering how are people dealing with cordura and lint?! I am thinking of returning my MCB because it is a total lint/pet hair magnet. I only tried it on for 5 minutes and it was covered with hair. Granted I have 2 cats and worked at an animal hospital, I probably have animal hair on most of my clothes. Also the black color doesn't help with the hairy situation either.

I hope Dyneema would be a good choice for pet hair.

Dyneema, Cork, or our 1050 denier U.S. ballistic nylon are all better choices if you're looking for a fabric that doesn't collect pet hair. I personally don't have much problem with lint or pet hair on my Cordura bags, but it could just that my pets particular hair isn't that...clingy. (I have two cats and two dogs.) Or maybe the attraction of pet hair to the Cordura fades over time? Working at an animal hospital, I'd imagine you'd come into contact with lots of different hair types. I don't think you'll have any issue with the Dyneema - but keep us posted!

    Hi, mtview.

Following a suggestion on another thread, I broke down and bought a lint roller. Even so, I find myself sitting in a coffee shop picking off cat hairs; they transfer from my clothes and cling to the rough Cordura. Black bags, white cat.

As Darcy said, this is not a problem with Dyneema and ballistic nylon. I wish the Cafe bags and Synapse had been offered in ballistic.

She also said: "Or maybe the attraction of pet hair to the Cordura fades over time?" Okay, I'll give it more time. I'm not sending back the cat.

I find that cat hair adds character to the bags. It's a reminder that they wanted to come along!

i have one greyhound and two cats, and for the most part it seems like only one of the kitties accompanies me on my bag. i think he just has softer/wispier hair or something? anyhow, a big ol' YES to the lint roller.

A lint roller works well (if you want to avoid the paper waste, get one of the washable roller kind, there's a travel size one).

If your forget it, scotch tape or packing tape works well. Just about every office has some. Even Vetrap can pull some of the hair off in a pinch.

One item I found that helps is Static Guard. Some of the longer-haired cat hair won't stick and weave in if you spray your bag inside and out at least once a month.

(As a former dog groomer, cat owner, and shower of Borzoi, yes, I know cat and dog hair, and all my show bags are sapphire Cordura.....)

    OK,

I can't resist pointing people to this old Companion Animal Pictures thread. We especially solicit comments from forum members who submitted pictures with their cat(s) or dog(s) lying on top of the bags in question, and have therefore established their bona fides as expert commentators.

    Some examples from the thread:

Wonderful - thanks for reposting those photos, moriond.

I'll add that we have friends currently fostering a Treeing Walker Coon Hound, and his fur doesn't seem more or less attracted to Cordura than the other dogs.

Thanks everyone. Too bad the cafe bag doesn't come in nylon. I look forward in receiving my dyneema synapse. Hopefully that would be the one.
