Any chance of a prototype that would fit the Ego? You could try a smaller bag that way? Well, I tried!

The update on the blog is appreciated, but it is at all possible that we could get some kind of description of what we are all waiting for? Its been over two years in development, and I would imagine that people might be willing to wait a bit longer if they knew a bit more about the insert. And, I can also imagine a number of disappointed people who waited for a product that did not meet their needs (or could not fit into their bags). Perhaps its time to give out a bit more essential information about the insert, like which bags it will or will not fit into?
Thanks,

Any update on this much sought after unicorn? :)
Actually, yes. We just used the Camera Insert on a trip, and it worked beautifully. We'll post a write-up (along with estimated pre-order information) soon.

I cannot wait :)
Yay! I hope it fits in the Ego. Been holding off on tbe Ego to purchase them together (Ego + camera insert).
I can't wait to understand:
Compatible size cameras: Micro 4/3rds? Standard DSRL? Standard + Grip or Pro DSLR?
Lens Compatibility: Standard kit lenses? Wide angles? 1.4 or 2.8 lenses? Tall lenses, like 80-200?
Cant wait...
We're preparing a post about the Camera Insert for tomorrow. No photos of the actual insert (yet), but we'll share some other photos. And, yes, it fits in the Ego. :)

The Camera Insert Update: Part 1 is up on the blog. If there's any questions we didn't answer, ask away -- I'll do my best to answer them without revealing anything top-secret.

Love, love, love!
The tripod case is extra bonus. does it come different sizes. I have a really small Gitzo Traveller :)
If the Smaller Brain Bag debuts with the camera insert . . . . :)
Sorry, Darcy - could not resist! But happy and grateful.
So glad you like it, LiLin. Carrying all of our different camera gear was such a pain before I started using the Camera Insert prototype. Now I have nothing stopping me from taking all the gear that I want to take on a photo trip.
Which model of Gitzo tripod (and which head) do you have?
The smaller Brain Bag might not be wide enough to fit the Camera Insert, but we'll see. Regardless, the smaller Brain Bag won't be available until sometime next year.

Okay - I REALLY want that tripod case! I'll have to get a new tripod for it too!

Yay! Smaller brain bag jn 2012! That will be awesome, awesome!
I just ordered a Gitzo Traveller 1541 and plan to purchase a markins q3t ballhead in the next few months -TB purchasess take precedence :) I recently made foray into the panasonic gh1 from the panasonic lx3. Have much to learn.
I LOVE the brain bag. It was my intro to TB. But the bb is too long for short, short me. I had one from 1996. Got heavy use from me over 6 years, toting a 7-lb Dell laptop, overhead projector, their cords & extra batteries plus the requisite paper files to bring to presentations. I gave it away when I no longer needed to carry all that stuff. Current owner is very happy with it - and the bag looked great the last time I saw it (last year).
It looks like the camera insert is meant for the SLR. Perhaps, a smaller version for cameras is not far behind? I can wait.
I can use the tripod case.
Any hints as to which bags might be able to carry the insert and a 13" or 15" laptop with or without all the power brick and cords and other goodies? I'm trying to find a perfect "personal item" for my dad. They fly on smaller regional jets a lot so he needs something that will count as the plus one but can protect laptop and camera and fit under the seat on a bigger plane. All the extra stuff can be gate checked if need be.
Brain bag is too big, it seems. Perhaps the ego or super ego would work?
