Empire Builder tips over - suggestions?

I have an "original run" Empire Builder, which I love in most ways, but it does tip over easily if I have anything substantial in the pockets under the front flap. I found some other threads about this from 2007, and I know that the revised version addressed the issue, but I'm reluctant (and can't really afford) to replace a perfectly good bag just for that. Does anyone have suggestions about how I can re-engineer mine to tip less? (Other than using a lead counterweight. :-))

I glued some "feet" to the bottom front of my EB. There were rubber pieces from a DVD travel case. Not pretty, but they helped quite a bit with the tip-over problem on my original EB. I can search around for pics if you want.
