Ristretto too floppy

I am not tall - 5'4'' on a good day and just started using my original Ristretto for MacBook Air 11'' along with an Absolute Strap. The Ristretto flops against me as I walk, and I think the vertical orientation is not ergonomic for me. Has anybody else of similar height experienced this? Strap is great, though. I previously used a Patagonia Mini Mass and liked it much better for the "feel" while walking.

I have to agree with you. I used to have a 13" Ristretto, and that drove me nuts. I ended up selling it and getting a Synapse instead. I tried shortening the strap so the bag rode higher, but that didn't seem to work either.

Thanks for confirming this - there are so many extremely positive reviews of all TB products here, I assumed I must be wearing the bag incorrectly, but I guess not.

I'm going to sell it and will look for an appropriate place to link to the listing within the Forums.

If shortening the shoulder strap to be as short as it can get and/or using the waist strap to secure the bag against your body didn't work, it sounds like a horizontal messenger bag like Imago might work better for you, or as nukediver suggested, a backpack like the Synapse. I'm 5'4" (almost 5'5") and don't find that I have this problem with the Ristretto, so I don't think everyone in our height range will, but it's worth noting.

This is one of the reasons that we haven't yet made a 17" Ristretto or even a 15" Ristretto: because the Ristretto is a vertical format messenger bag, a Ristretto sized for those sizes of laptops would be very, very tall and would likely only work well for someone very, very tall.

I second the Imago as an alternative. I agonised for months about the Ristretto - I love the vertical design and love the zip pouch at the front. However it was this excellent video review that convinced me the Ristretto might look too tall on my 165 cm / 5'5" frame!

My Imago in Navy/Cork/Wasabi arrived last week and it's a great size for me. I'll take photos and write a review this weekend. One big advantage I've already noticed is that even with a full ream of A4 paper inside, the Imago is standing up on it's own.

Thanks for the info on the ream of paper in the Imago. I've been thinking about a shoulder bag for meetings and travel that could carry my ipad and papers.
