Thumbs up Steel Aeronaut and Imago

Until recently I didn't realise I had a bag fetish but after discovering this web site following the slashdotting recently, I've been feverish about getting my hands on a bag! I'm happy to say I now have a Steel/Cork/Wasabi Imago and a Steel/Solar Aeronaut in my possession (and a Plum/Olive medium cafe bag for my wife). The build quality is excellent as noted in many many other posts so I won't belabour that point with my own feeble description.

I have attached a picture of my bags to provide an example of the colour, relative size and absolute size (thanks to a stubbie of good Australian beer 375ml).

What did surprise me is that the Imago was bigger and the Aeronaut smaller than I expected. Not in a bad way but another voice suggesting that some sort of side by side official size comparison would be very helpful. I had been a little concerned that the Imago would be too small and the Aeronaut too big so I'm a happy camper in both respects.

Although not ideal, the Imago main pocket is large enough to fit my Lenovo T60 15.4" laptop, albeit without any protective sleeve. I don't intend to use it for that purpose but it is nice to know that if I had to I could use it temporarily.

Both bags will get a serious workout when I travel to Vietnam on business for five weeks in June.

Love the steel/solar! I'm hoping for the Tristar in that combination. The Imago is a bit big for me, but the cork front panel looks sharp. Thanks for the pictures!

Wonderful colors. The Steel/Solar is more becoming than I imagined. Also, it's an interesting perspective of size... I envisioned the Imago to be a little smaller than this photo would indicate. Thanks for sharing, and great travels to you!

I'm a huge fan of the solar inside color. I'm bummed none of my bags has it. I hope my next bag has solar as an option.

Curious: why do you hate UPS?

Ok...uncle. I give up. You win.

After holding off on an Aeronaut for so long I finally caved and bought the steel/solar after seeing these pictures.

I find them very hard to schedule deliveries with and they only have one pick up location in the entire city of vancouver being at the airport.
Aslo they are killer wtih brokerage fees for us Canadians unlike other shipping methods. Its funny I know many other people who don't like using UPS unless they don't have a choice. I think the service is very different in the US than it is in Canada.

Brokerage fees are included in the $30 flat fee UPS shipping rate we offer. You'll have to pay taxes upon pick-up of the package, but no brokerage fees.

I have received bags here in Vancouver and I have only had to pay the taxes. I found UPS delivery was usually between 4 and 6 pm.

I baulked at the $55 shipping to Australia at first but when I bit the bullet it was entirely painless and the bags arrived much quicker than the specified timeframe.

Only thing missing was a Tom Bihn sticker to apply to something other than my new bags. ;)

Whoa. That cork/steel color combo rocks.

What brand of frosty beverage is that in the corner? It looks mighty comfy snuggled up to the Imago...

A fine bottle of South Australian Coopers Pale Ale. It looks suspiciously empty since I took that photo. ;)

I have an Ego & Medium Cafe bag in Black/Wasabe and clip a small solar pouch inside of which ever I am using at the time. I just love the combination of the Solar with the Black. Add to that the amazing Wasabe -- breathtaking! I just love the three together.

Solar & Black Tristar? You bet !!
