While I'm leaning toward getting a Brain Bag and Camera I/O, I do have some questions about the newly introduced Guide's Pack. I haven't ruled this brand-new Tom Bihn masterpiece out.
Let's say I went ahead and bought the Guide's Pack instead of the Brain Bag. According to Mr. Bihn's staff, the Camera I/O will not fit in the new Guide's Pack. Let's accept this as a given. Now, let's say that, despite this, I still want Guide's Pack with a full outfitting on accessories. I have at least one SLR camera (maybe two), with lens(es; maybe one wide-angle and the other telephoto) that I want to carry with me on a hike. Since the Camera I/O is ruled out as a useful accessory with the Guide's Pack for a challenging hike, what kind of padded accessories would I be best advised to use to carry my photographic equipment with me on a journey?
Here's a fantasy packing list that I could (superficially) imagine for the Guide's Pack:
- a Canon Digital Rebel T3, with 75-300 telephoto lens attached (I have both of these items)
- a Canon Digital Rebel T4i or other recent SLR, with 18-55 or similar lens attached (already have the lens)
- first aid kit
- fire starter
- water bottle
- DeLorme Earthmate GPS receiver
- magnifying glass
- Tom Bihn Field Journal
- two-way radios
- knives, small hatchet, maybe small fold-up saw
This is all just conjecture, of course.
Assuming I could get all of this to fit, what could I use to protect the electronic items?
