Stuff Sack - Trouble Closing

I have several stuff sacks, which are great. I use them for my knitting, so I am opening and closing them all the time. I clip them to the D-rings inside my swift. After a few months of use, the drawstrings on the stuff sacks no longer want to close. I really have to force them with both hands and tease them into closing, otherwise they sort of seize up with the opening still mostly open.

Has anyone else had this problem? It seems very simple, but maybe I am doing something wrong?

My oldest stuff sacks are about a year old, and I haven't had any problems yet. Well, other than deciding to put something into one and realizing all of mine are already full.

I think I understandwhat Alex M is saying. The first 2 stuff sacks I purchased have frayed string closures. I think the fraying causes the difficulty in closing the sack.

When I first got the sacks, I closed them by pulling on one end of the string while sliding the black slider while pushing down on the jiggamagig that pushes down towards the sack to keep it securely closed. Like Alex M, closing the stuff sack became more difficult over time. So I looked closely when I closed my bags. I noted that the end of the spring catches in the string, resulting to fuzz that overtime intereferes with sliding the slider.

Over time, I learned that the way to close the sack is to hold one end of the string, push the fabric to cinch close on the opposite end, THEN push down & slide the black plastic slider towards the sack to secure and keep close.

I have been meaning to ask the nice folks at TB if I could purchase 2 strings to replace my frayed ones. But silly me always forgets each time I placed an order. I can close the sacks fine now - I carefully scraped the frayed string with a sharp razor. But the strings on my first 2 stuff sacks look sorry.

One of my first ones picked on the cord lock, my guess is that there was a slub of plastic inside OR I didn't squeeze it tight enough. The cord is now loopy from the picks and it is substantially harder to close than the others. After I saw this I ensure that I squeeze the cord lock completely and I don't think any of the others have picked.

I have a fraying drawstring on my UV stuff sack. It catches when I close the stuff sack.

The drawstrings on the other (steel, solar, iberian) stuff sacks are ok.

I received a replacement drawstring for my yarn stuff sack - thank you all at TB - and I can feed it halfway around - to the seam. I can't get it past the seam. I think it is catching on the binding. Is there a secret to feeding the drawstring through the casing?

Have you tried threading the cord through in the other direction? You may find it a bit easier to start at the other eyelet, and pass by that seam in the opposite direction.
