Storage for the Bag-o-holic

Too many bags, and not enough storage space. Aeronaut, Empire Builder, Super Ego, ID, a few Brain Cells, a bunch of packing cubes (TB and non-TB), a Checkpoint Flyer - scattered in a corner of my closet.

About to order a Western Flyer, a couple of Cafe Bags, a Co-Pilot, and an Imago. Plus a few more cubes and pouches.

I wont even mention my camera bags (but I will): a pair of Domkes, a few LowePro Slings, a Think Tank Sling-o-Matic, and another bag or two.

Do I really need a bag for my bags? :eek:

Maybe I need a shrink...

Probably, but how do you handle the neat storage of a plethora of smaller "organization bags" and larger bags? I don't want to play the Russian Nesting Dolls game and have to dig into a bag inside a bag inside a bag....

I use these storage bins. I can fit my Brain Bag, Tri-Star, Aeronaut, Large Cafe Bag, and a large Brand X messenger bag. The packing cubes are stored in their respective bag usually, but otherwise are stacked on top. Not much compressing needed. Slide it into the closest... perfecto!

I do the "doll game" with my main travel bag (Aeronaut) and the various smaller bags I take with it. It's the only way to keep myself sane. If I ever get another bag similar to the Aeronaut, which I'm tempted to do, then I'll have a problem.

I have all the backpacks now and they are an issue. I can justify the Brain Bag because it's holding some cords and power supplies and some extra pc parts. The Smart Alec holds my work laptop. The Synapse is a travel bag so it should probably go in the Aeronaut. I need to cut back really.

Hanging them on coat hangers sometimes helps.

planning a closet makeover and will be taking into consideration our soon-to-be-made tom bihn purchases (just have an aeronaut now, but eyeing a co-pilot for myself and the checkpoint flyer for the hubby)... and we're going with the elfa system from the container store to organize them

i like elfa b/c you can mix and match basket dimensions. they come up to 20 3/4" long x 16 7/8" wide x 11 1/4" deep - enough to hold an Aeronaut with minimal squishing; so with 1-2 bags per drawer basket and then a shallow drawer basket on top to hold accessories, straps, etc, we'll have a tom bihn 'dresser' of bags!

I keep my TB travel bags in my old rolling hard-shell suitcase. It's about all that it is good for anymore ;)

I do the same thing. I've got an old Eagle Creek roller that weighs a ton. It was a great bag in its day and has a lot of life left in it as a storage unit. I also have a large LLBean boat tote that's packed to the gills. I've got a quilt rack that I hang bags off of using shower curtain hooks. I also use clothes hangers in the closet. Some hang over the closet rods by their shoulder staps. Bag-a-holic, me, nah, no way.

I use the same kind of storage totes as Karl J.
I got mine at Target, they are very strong, I used them to move.

A 66 quart /62 litter size holds 3 fully loaded and 1 empty Swift.

Free standing shelves found at the same store mentioned above, hold 4 fully loaded Swifts and 1 Small Cafe Bag.

Each shelf can hold one 66 quart plastic tote with a little room to spare
