Checkpoint Flyer dimensions

I was looking at the CPF page after drooling over the newly introduced Tristar (now I gotta figure out a way to justify buying one to the wife!) when I saw that you seem to have TWO different sizes of the main briefcase portion of the CPF - one for Macs and a larger one for PCs. Was there really a need to make a bigger CPF just for the PC laptops? I can understand making different laptop cases for PCs, but to make a larger briefcase portion as well? Maybe I misread it, but the sidebar of the page clearly states the total volume and dimensions separately for Macs and PCs (total 15.5 L/950 cu in for Macs and 20 L/1220 cu in for PCs).

Am I missing something here? I thought the whole idea for the CPF was to have one bag and multiple laptop cases you can swap out. I'm so confused now. Please help!

I have an HP HDX 18T on order and an looking for a bag to hold it (screen size=18.4"). I currently own a Checkpoint Flyer (great bag!) and wondered if there is (will be) a Checkpoint Flyer Laptop Case or soft cell or brain bag that that I could attach to the Checkpoint Flyer (even if it is no longer check point friendly) so I can use the bag with the new computer. If not, would the Empire Builder with a 2XXLT Horizontal Brain Cell (when available) be the best choice?

Well, the new "PC" sizes of Checkpoint Flyer laptop case were simply too big to clip into, at that point, the only size of Checkpoint Flyer bag. The laptop cases are actually bigger than that size Checkpoint Flyer bag. It would have been great if they did fit - but they didn't, and we did have to make a larger Checkpoint Flyer bag just for the PC sizes.

Darcy: Are the clips the same distance apart? (That is, could one put a MBP-sized shell on the larger size of Checkpoint Flyer?) Sorry it complicated manufacture / inventory, but to me it sounds like a good thing to know about.

Thanks for the clarification Darcy. As an Apple fanboy, I'm not used to thinking about thicker/bulkier PC laptops. I guess I got spoiled by my MBP!

As a side note, I'd like to second timothy's comment about using a MBP-sized case on the "PC" CPF. Is that possible? Or could someone order the PC CPF with a MBP case? Inquiring minds would like to know!

I'm afraid that neither the Checkpoint Flyer or Empire Builder in their current formats will fit your HDX 18T.

The only bag we have that fits the HDX 18T is the Super Ego messenger bag. (Your HDX 18T will actually fit in our Size 2XL Brain Cell OR the 2XXLT. The 2XXLT is a slightly better fit, but won't fit in any of our current bags, while the Size 2XL Horizontal Brain Cell will clip inside of the Super Ego and the Size 2XL Vertical Soft Cell will slip inside both our Smart Alec and Brain Bag backpacks.)

That said, Tom is working on new, larger bags to fit the 2XL and 2XXLT Brain Cells. Those new bags may be available later this year.

That is not possible. The clip spacing won't allow it.

Two questions about the Checkpoint Flyer, and this was the thread that came closest to answering them.

First, am I reading this correctly that a Mac laptop case will not attach to a PC CPF, and a PC laptop case will not attach to a Mac CPF, due to different spacing of the gatekeeper clips and clip attachment points? This seems to be what one of the above responses indicates, but this is a really old thread and does not agree with the statement on the product page that says you can buy a new laptop case and not a whole new bag when you get a new computer. I'm hoping the clip/attachment point spacing is the same, so I can get one bag that will work for my work laptop (a giant 17" Dell) and will also work with a 13" MacBook case.

Second, the product page lists the overall dimensions for the different bags (Mac/PC versions), but does not detail the dimensions of the main (largest) compartment. By my figuring, I am assuming the Mac is 18.5" x 12.5" x 3.3" and the PC bag is 19.5" x 14.5" x 3.5", is this correct?
