I must admit I have always loved luggage but have always tried to find the best I could for the least price. In planning my upcoming 3 week trip to Europe in October and taking a low cost European airline on one of the legs that has a strict one bag 19 inch, 24 pound policy got me thinking about my options. This research lead me to Tom Bihn.
I was considering the Aeronaut at first but held off when I heard rumblings of a Tristar......I debated about the price and I debated about moving from a roller bag to a backpack shoulder style. I never liked the look of most backpack styles as they look too casual and sporty for my liking. When I saw the Tristar I decided to take the plunge.
Today UPS arrived with a wonderful package for me my Tristar in Steel/Solar and I could not be happier.
this is one amazing well designed bag!!! I have never seen a bag so well designed, everything from the fabric to the zippers, to the compartments and the design. Nothing was forgotten in this design.
So in my excitement I decided to do a quick pack to see what I could fit.
In the larger compartment I put three pairs of pants using the compression straps, then in the large packing cube I put 2 dress shirts, 2 long sleeve shirts and 4 t shirt.
In the middle compartment I put my macbook pro in a mac case sleeve and an accessory bag.
In the third compartment I put a pair of size 10 pumas and a pair of dress shoes stuffed with socks and underwear.
I weighed the bag and it came in at 22 pounds and I could not believe how compact the bag still looked. Now when it comes time for the trip I will have a netbook so that will save weight and room and I will be packing a bit smarter.
I love the absolute shoulder strap it seems surpising comfortable as does using it in a backpack style. I love having the option of using it as both as I will be traveling with a combination of train and plane on this trip.
I can not wait to take it with me to Europe in October and put it the real test. This is one amazing bag and I am glad I took the plunge as I think I have found the perfect bag! I may still get an Areonaut for my partner which I think is a great excuse to have another Tom Bihn bag!
Once you go tom bihn you don't go back....
