Favorite iPhone/iPod Touch cover or case?

    Happy Holidays everyone!
Santa was kind enough to bring me an iPod Touch 64 for Christmas and I'm in the market for a case. All my past pods have resided in a Contour Designs Showcase and I think they're fantastic but I thought someone might have a case they like even better? Any suggestions? I look forward to reading what everyone else is using.

    Cheers,
    Nik

    iPod case

My original iPod has a waterproof OtterBox case, which is very protective, but somewhat large. The iPod touch I just received also has an OtterBox case; it is not waterproof but is much more streamlined. I like both cases.

I use a silicone sleeve that covers the back of the iPod touch, but leaves the screen exposed. It has a slot at the bottom for the sync and headphone connectors, and a slot in the back for the wi-fi antenna (not sure how necessary that is).

It's similar to this one, but mine is from another brand, can't recall which: http://www.amazon.com/Durable-Flexib...1877804&sr=8-4

It's thin and light, and it feels soft when you hold it. I want it mainly to protect the shiny back from scratches. As for the screen, I've seen many youtube videos showing you can't scratch the glass, even intentionally with keys. I do keep it in my jeans pocket, but the one without keys or coins. After 2 months, the screen still looks scratch-free.

i use the slider case by incase, and i really love it. it's not bulky, it's pretty, it does a good job of protecting, and if you need to dock your iPod/iPhone in anything substantial (like a speaker system, say), you can slide off just the bottom of the case. for regular charging with the USB cable, you don't need to remove anything. i have the metallic version, in magnesium (for my iPhone 3G), but it comes in several color options. i just got my mom one for christmas, for her new iPod touch.

    Hi,

I use the Griffin Wave case for my iPod Touch. This is a light slider design case that comes with protective film. I've used the Contour Design Showcase cases before, and I prefer the Griffin Wave case slider design. (The Contour Design cases are hard plastic and connect front and back halves. With the slider designs, the case is securely covered (with open front), but you can slip off the bottom if necessary for access.) The virtue of the Otterbox case is that it is super protective. (You can find YouTube demos of owners of this case hurling their iPhones or iPod Touches to the ground, showing that there is no damage.) By contrast, it's a bulkier case, and you may have some issues with trying to dock the iPod Touch with the case on due to the case extension around the docking port. I'm guessing, if you used the Contour Design Showcase that you might prefer a less bulky case. With the Griffin Wave and other lighter cases, you can probably put the iPod Touch into a dock (e.g. for a speaker system) without removing the case. If necessary, you can easily slide off the bottom part of the case to dock the iPod. (This is also a feature of the Incase Slider).

The Griffin Wave Case lists for $25 for a single case, or $35 for the two case pack (which is the same list price as the Incase Slider, I think). It also comes with protective film for front and back. (Or, you can substitute the anti-glare film that bluedawg suggests).

Here's a link to the iLounge review of the Griffin Wave case. For comparison, here is their review of the Contour Design Showcase Touch case.

I have a case-mate barely there case on my iPhone and I love it! I have the green one. I love the feel of the case as well as the circle cut out on the back so my apple logo is still displayed.(not sure if the iPod case has that feature) I also use the anti-glare screen film, it really helps avoid the not so great looking fingerprint smudges that come with a touch screen.

I have the clear Agent 18 case. My daughters have the flexible Agent 18 cases for their itouches. I've had a few different cases, and the Agent 18 cases seem better than most other options.

    Switcheasy...

I use the Capsule Rebel model from switcheasy:

I can wholeheartedly recommend this case, I have dropped my phone several times (including on concrete, face-down) and this case provides fantastic surrounding protection. The bonus, for $25 you get the 2 part case, 2 screen protectors, plug static protection, a miniature stand and a standard dock insert.

Great case... I believe iLounge rated it an A-.

DLO Jam Jacket silicone case for me. I do have a leather flip-top numer for carrying it on my belt, but it's a pain to work with when you get a call.

The Jam Jacket is a bit chunky and the textured grips get caught in your pocket, but it stands up well to drops and offers good protection. I am still seeking the perfect solution myself, but this is the best I have seen for the price so far!

While it's possible that some iPod Touch cases may fit iPhone, check the case carefully to ensure that it does not block the earpiece. iPod Touch cases generally cover the top of the phone where the earpiece is.

Most iPod Touch cases also cover the camera. I keep finding the color I want for a case in iPod Touch versions but not iPhone versions

Ditto on the incase shell (mine's matte black). The Touch lives in my pants pocket with a protective anti-glare film added as well and after almost a month, looks great.
