I've always wanted to ask this. Have you ever actually used your whistle to call for help, or something? Or is it more of a "in case the building ever collapses, I can still signal someone without yelling my throat raw" sort of thing?

Curious. Also my Fox 40 Rescue Howler should be arriving soon.

I carry my storm whistle just in case. BTW, I also have a Fox 40 whistle. I have since replaced my Sangean DT 200V with an analog pocket radio from Panasonic, click http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RF-P...&s=electronics
to view. The Panasonic lasts longer on batteries and has a much cleaner sound. These little pocket radios, I also have the Sony version, make cheap backup emergency radios.

That Panasonic looks like our Grundig! But even as small as it is, I've never thought of EDCing a radio...

The Panasonic pocket radio is a very slick design. I often pull this little gem out when I'm at Starbucks or waiting for my car at the dealer, or walking the mall or lake. I decided I needed a bag a little bigger (and wider) than a Cafe bag, so I
ordered an Imago bag...it suits me better and is as flexible as duct tape.
