Travel Tray Review

Just used the travel tray on a recent trip to Panama. It really made going through the TSA security checkpoint a breeze. Not sure if I read about it here or in another forum but what I did was put my 311 liquids in a quart ziplock bag and put that in the travel tray and the travel tray in my bag. When I got to the security checkpoint I took the tray out of the bag and the quart ziplock with my liquids out of the tray. I then put my watch, phone, etc (basically everything in my pockets into the travel tray, zipped it up, and threw that in the bag. This way all my stuff was not out in the open for anybody to pilfer. After going through security I took everything out of the tray and put the quart ziplock back in. It really made going through security a nice tidy affair.

I always have some kind of tray when I travel to put loose items like my phone, glasses, keys, coins etc so they are handy and don't get lost. I was using one of those flat trays where the corners snap together and while they work good for a few items I found the travel tray much better because it has a greater capacity, plus it serves as a dual use item for going through security as described above.

This is a handy little item that you really don't need but it really is extremely handy. I'll definitely be using this on all future trips.

Thank you for the review of the travel tray. Now, I think I would need to put one in our next order :)

I read about that idea in lodestar's post in this thread (http://www.tombihn.com/forums/bag-re...avel-tray.html). I don't keep my 3-1-1 bag inside the tray (the 3-1-1 has been in the top front pocket of my WF for almost two years and if I change that, I'll be confused), but pull out the tray from my WF and put all the stuff from my pockets in it. Really makes it easy to grab everything and not leave stuff behind.

This is the Tom Bihn forum and posters like to use their TB products for all sorts of tasks. But I ALWAYS put my purse, watch, wallet, etc. inside my locked bag when going through airport security. And I don't wait until I get to the checkpoint to stash my items. After I get my boarding pass, I walk to a chair and arrange everything to get ready for the security gauntlet.

When going through airport security, I would only use the travel tray to hold valuables if it could be locked. There are too many instances of theft (both TSA employees and other passengers) at airport security checkpoints. I always make sure my items are in my view, too.

I may not have been clear but I don't just put the travel tray in a TSA bin - I put the travel tray with my stuff inside my bag zipped up so it is out of sight.

I've just arrived home from my first trip with the ultraviolet travel tray. It spent the trip on a bedside table, holding all my meds, skin care, necklaces and travel towlettes that are usually scattered across the table. It was fantastic!!! I never worried about things falling on the floor or behind the bedside table. That peace of mind alone is worth the $22 price tag. The Travel Tray is now a 'must take' item on my packing list!
