Attaching a Tom Bihn Empire Builder Bag to a Bicycle

"I was overthinking the bike/Bihn attachment method. While at Lowe’s purchasing sheet metal to fabricate my attachment, I noticed the wire cage holding the plastic shopping bags…..Hmmmm. The following day, chowing on Mellow Mushroom pizza, I looked at the pizza stand and knew that could work. I almost stole it. I eat there a lot, and that wouldn’t be right. So I did some web research and measured my love, 36…23….32….kidding and ordered a pizza rack from Amazon." Read the full post over at Spokes And Beans. A Rave for the Aeronaut

"I should also mention that my first Bihn pack was a custom Twisted Limpet daypack made in 1985 that has over the ensuing 20+ years been subjected to (ab)uses that no sane pack designer would want to anticipate. It still sees regular use. Tom & Co. make GREAT gear, and the Aeronaut is no exception. Conclusion: with the Aeronaut true one-bag travel is possible for extended trips, and for trips of 4 days or less, the Aeronaut makes one-bag travel trivially easy." -- Read Alex Merz's full review

Bye Grape Ballistic Nylon

We're out of the Grape fabric: no more bags in Grape will be made. And, unlike Plum, we definitely won't be able to get anymore Grape fabric. (The Grape ballistic nylon fabric that is available to us has flaws which we find unacceptable.)

Bags still available in Grape as of today (07/20/07):
The StyleKit
The ID
The Ego
The Zephyr
The Aeronaut
The LUX

Talk about it in our forums.

Rainy Day Magazine First Use: The Ego and The Aeronaut

"For a recent two-day trip, I packed the clothes and gear you see below. The clothes were comfortably accommodated in the main section of the Aeronaunt. The side pockets were used for power bricks and AC cords. The Aeronaunt could have easily taken on twice as much stuff. The Ego had separate pockets for all of the gadgets (Blackberry, GPS, desktop tripod, ipod, laptop, etc...). After we took this picture, I realized that we didn't even show the headphones, backup camera, magazines, and bluetooth headset which were all still in the bag."

Review of the Buzz in Apple.com Discussions

"I harnessed the Buzz, adjusted the straps and wore it for a week in and around town. The Buzz and its sling design holds' the 15-inch MacBook Pro, cables, charger, etc. in a vertical orientation on the back. This permits full range of motion for both arms, unlike most soft-sided computer briefcases. At times, I wanted to shift the load, so I simply reached around with my left hand and lifted up slightly on the bottom as I grabbed the ferry-loop (top strap) with my right hand. In this manner, you can easily adjust the tension on the crossover strap. "
