Watch Tom Bartack + Sparky of Gearlive Reviews the ID Messenger Bag

“If you are looking for a high quality messenger bag made with technology in mind you can’t find a better bag than the ID. Between its solid construction, well thought out pocket placement, and clean simple looks it’s a clear winner in the messenger bag arena.” Read Sparky’s full review of the ID Messenger Bag. The ID is in stock and ready to ship in all available color combinations.

Last week, Sparky came by our headquarters with his 13″ MacBook so Tom could try fitting the MacBook inside the new Buzz Sling Bag prototype. Sparky’s MacBook fit inside the Buzz perfectly, and Tom is doing everything he can to make sure the Buzz will also fit the 15.4″ MacBook Pro.

Using our bartack sewing machine, Tom also created an extra-long key loop for Sparky so he can unlock his door without unclipping his keys from the key loop. Sparky posted a short video of Tom using our blazingly fast, 42-stitch bartack machine on his blog. Click here or on the image below to be taken to Sparky’s blog where you can watch the video of Tom bartacking the key loop.

Who made your Tom Bihn Utility Tote? Tao did.

Meet Tao. She’s one of the talented seamstresses in our Tom Bihn Seattle Factory. Tao binds the inside seams of our bags, and makes the handles of the Utility Tote. It’s detailed work, and one look at the handles of our Utility Tote shows how skilled Tao is at what she does. The Utility Tote is now in-stock and ready to ship.

O’Grady’s PowerPage Reviews the Super Ego

“The Super Ego is well built of high-quality materials. My favorite feature, not available in other bags I’ve seen, are the #8 and #10 YKK Uretek “splash-proof” zippers. They keep the moisture and dirt out and give the case a futuristic look.”

Riley (Tom’s dog) in the Snow

You may have heard that November has been the rainiest month in Seattle (where Tom Bihn Company is based) and Pacific Northwest history. Then cold air came in and that rain turned to snow. The following pictures are of Riley (Tom’s dog) having fun in the 3ft of snow that fell at an elevation of 1800 ft just outside of the Olympic National Park in Port Angeles, Washington.

Introducing The New Utility Tote (New Pictures, Too!)

Tom has redesigned the Utility Tote, a longtime favorite bag of Tom Bihn employees (especially since they’re the perfect holiday gift, because just about everyone wants/needs one) and Seattle locals.

The Utility Tote is the go-everywhere, do-everything bag. I use the Utility Tote as an overnight bag, to carry groceries and laundry, and on the occasion I bring extra stuff to work with me, into the Utility Tote it goes. It’s also great
for the beach, or to take sailing, because the #5 YKK plastic slider on the interior zipper pocket won’t rust.

The new and improved Tom Bihn Utility Tote Bag

The introduction of the newly redesigned Utility Tote also marks the debut of two new colors added to the Tom Bihn 1000 denier Cordura color palette: Kelly Green and Navy Blue.

New features of the Utility Tote include:

  • An interior zippered pocket made out of Dyneema® ripstop.
  • Comfortable, durable Poron® foam handles. In side-by-side drop weight tests, Poron® materials outperformed vinyl sponge, neoprene sponge, sponge rubber, latex foam and other materials.
  • The Poron foam handles of the Utility Tote are accented with the main color of the Utility Tote. For example, if you order a Kelly/Navy Utility Tote, the handles of your tote will be accented with Kelly.
  • Three d-rings (one with a key snap attached) perfect for attaching
    Organizer Pockets.
  • The Utility Tote is $45.00 and is available for order now with a shipping date of late November. Special Tom Bihn giftwrap and card are available for an extra $5.00.

Let us know what you think about the new Utility Tote in our forums.
