The Tom Bihn Zephyr Briefcase & Accessories Review at Gear Diary
Published by Judie Lipsett Hughes July 9th, 2007

“Realize that I had never reviewed the Empire Builder bag, so I had never seen the clever filing system Tom Bihn utilizes. On either side of the bag, there are 0.5″ bumpers which have been sewn in. These bumpers catch the special hook on each side of the three dividers, so it’s like the inverse of a hanging file: the dividers can easily slide wherever needed in the compartment to keep files crisp and undamaged, or they can simply be removed. This is one of the coolest specialized features I have ever seen in any bag. Read On…

Keep your most important document safe in one of the local designer’s most useful travel items

“One of my favorite travel books is P.J. O’Rourke’s “Holidays in Hell.” O’Rourke travels through – well, let’s just say they’re destinations you won’t find in glossy travel magazines. At one point he is asked, in heavily accented English, for his “pisspot.” It made me very aware that this important document should always be kept close at hand – and one should be flexible in translating requests for it.”

Tom Bihn Zephyr Briefcase Review
Submitted by SarahM on Tuesday, July 10, 2007

Excerpt:
“The Zephyr briefcase is a great bag for carrying and protecting a laptop. Being a person that worries about the little things, I took comfort in knowing that my laptop was secure in multiple layers of protection.

The numerous pockets on the outside and inside of the bag lived up to the advertisement, “Big On Organization.” I like having everything in its place, digging around for change or a pen at the bottom of a backpack or large purse is often frustrating.

Even when I loaded it up with my laptop, power cord, mouse, purse, paperwork, and a large novel, it didn’t feel too bulky. And thanks to the Absolute Shoulder strap it didn’t hurt my shoulder like my old backpack use to. No more strap marks!”

A Review of the Q-AM Shoulder Strap

“I began to think about returning the Q-AM. I was worried about the material used in the shoulder padding – it’s pretty slick, and slides easily along your shoulder/over clothing. What’s the point in having this cool bag if it’s always falling on the ground?

Ahh… but then I actually followed directions. When I started wearing the Q-AM the way it was designed (cross body, over left shoulder, bag on right), it all made sense. The “slick” material makes it easy to maneuver the bag around and get to its contents. And cinching up the strap, pulling the ID close to my back makes it as comfortable as a backpack.”

Further Comments on the iPhone and the Mini Organizer Pouch

“Saturday, while preparing to take the iPhone on it’s first trip into the wild, I was looking for something to put it in. By chance, I grabbed a Mini Organizer Pouch from Tom Bihn that was on my desk. It was a perfect fit for the iPhone. It also has enough space to hold the headphone adapter (borrowed from my old iPod Shuffle water resistant case), which makes it good for taking along in the car. Anyway, if you’re looking for a not-so-traditional case for your iPhone, check out the Tom Bihn Mini Organizer Pouch. And yes, that’s my iPhone in the photos. (http://www.tombihn.com/blog/node/338)”

“The Aeronaut arrived, and I was in love at first sight.”

“The Aeronaut arrived, and I was in love at first sight. I began looking at other Tom Bihn bags with envy, and quickly decided that with so many business trips approaching, I had to have an Empire Builder. And a Brain Cell. And some Packing Cubes. So was it worth it? Hell yes, it was worth it! I began with a 2 day trip to NY, perfect for the Aeronaut. The trips got longer, culminating with a 7 day conference in San Antonio, which included a recreational detour for hiking in the desert. Not only did I get everything I needed for the conference, but I also packed my hiking clothes for the desert! It all fit into the two bags, and I was thrilled to be able to go carry-on only with all this gear. The Aeronaut swallowed everything I could stuff into it, and the packing cubes made a huge difference. Although stuffed to the gills, it still fit into all overheads easily, and the Empire Builder carried everything that remained. The Absolute straps made carrying the bags a joy, and I never felt overloaded.”

“Your Briefcase Just Ran Over My Toe”

Your Briefcase Just Ran Over My Toe

By LISA BELKIN

“Not since women first laced clunky sneakers over pantyhose for the trek to work has an accessory brought out such strong feelings among the armies who drag pounds of papers between home and office. What one commuter sees as the answer to all aches and pains, the next one views as a hazard waiting to happen: what gets you through the subway station faster only gets in my way as I run for the train.”

Apple Matters Review of the Empire Builder

“So, final evaluation? Just buy one. If you were thinking of buying a briefcase that can span high tone formal business wear AND comfy server room garb, this is simply it. Keep the dust off it, and you can carry this anywhere. As well, it’s built to survive heavy-duty usage and has enough space in it to probably keep both your laptops, all working files, and most of your really useful peripherals in it. You can do then what every real hardworking IT person wants: carry all your important stuff with you always and still look cool enough not to scare people away.”
