Veritrope: A Tour of the New TOM BIHN Factory

“Walking around the factory, Tom and Darcy also talked about taking pride in growing good jobs for people, the joys of being able to immediately flesh out new concepts and projects, and being a part of an environment that they feel connected to (the Factory’s new location is near an estuary filled with the wildlife they love). In essence, they’ve built their business around two things: being able to make things that they’re proud of and being themselves.”

Read Justin’s entire post on Veritrope. It was great to meet Justin and Lauren and give them a tour of our factory. We could go on about how cool and smart and interesting they are, though we really just hope you get to meet them someday, too.

Quawkle: Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag (Ristretto)

“Last week I ordered the Ristretto for MBA from Tom Bihn and had it shipped 2nd Day Air via UPS. It arrived this past Tuesday and so far, I really love the bag. It holds both the MBA and the iPad with plenty of room for a small Tom Bihn bag for carrying cables, earphones, etc. In addition, there are a number of extra pockets and space for other accessories such as pens, clothes, etc.”

Restless Tech Review: the Zephyr briefcase

“I can’t believe that I have to be the one to say this. Tom Bihn has got to be stopped. He needs to go down. His blatant disregard for the laws of physics and particularly the law of conservation of matter are deeply troubling. Newton and Einstein are rolling over in their graves because of him and I am sure that the physics task force will be knocking on his door very, very soon. Or maybe just Gene Roddenbery’s ghost will give him a call to figure out how he accomplishes it!

I mean, really…there is no possible way that you should be able to get this much stuff in a bag! I made the mistake of referring to the Zephyr as a Bag of Holding to my wife and now she knows what a nerd I was before she met me.”

One Bag, One World Review of the TOM BIHN Large Cafe Bag

“The Tom Bihn Large Cafe Bag is a multi-functional, multi-purpose bag that is good for daily use, business use (assuming you don’t work with people who wear three piece Brooks Brothers suits,) and for travel. It can hold an amazing amount and is now my “go to” bag for most journeys—near and far.”

    backpack on the Brain Bag

    “I don’t have a Smart Alec but I have 3 Brain Bags.

The best backpack I’ve ever owned, hands down.

I have been using urban backpacks (as in non camping) ever since they were first put in the market. I have used many brands and many size of backpacks hence my screen name.”

    dorayme’s visit to our factory

“I cannot effectively put into words my trip to Tom Bihn, meeting Tom, Darcy, Katy and Brian, seeing the team of the rest of the employees hard at work, my personal tour and shopping experiences. I will just say it was amazing!

My little family of bags has grown, and I have a even greater sense of satisfaction in my purchases knowing; the thought that goes into each one, the fact that they are made for an honest wage, the company really cares for its employees, the company’s philosophies are a part of how they operate, not lip service or an outward statement and lastly, I feel like I “get” Tom so much more now. The designs are worked over so thoroughly to ensure that the product that is delivered is one that is at it’s fullest potential. There is nothing half hazard in the process of design here.

I have personally made suggestions, and have seen many made for combinations of certain fabrics for certain bags and seen that there is no movement forward to produce said bag, the thing that we don’t see on the purchasing end is that many of them have already been made/tried and didn’t meet the standard of quality that Tom, and the team of employees puts into what the name Tom Bihn is labeled onto, so those options aren’t available. The same can be said for designs in progress.

It’s great to invest in this kind of all around quality and the products are worth it. They last through real use and time and come out on the other side often looking no worse for wear. Often looking even nicer from the patina of use!”
