Dawn on the Swift
"I'd meant to send feedback prior to this but your bags really do promote portable culture and it's been busy! But that said here goes...
I researched a knitting/tote bag for a trip to Paris this past April--I chose the Swift after my ravelry/knitty search and loved using it so much on my trip that upon my return I ordered the Imago and the Small Cafe Bag and I don't know how many little zipper Pouches! I even got to speak with Tom Bihn when I ordered the second time!
Three of my knitting friends have since ordered the Swift and one in still in coveting--wish list phase (it's the economy). I have been a knitter/bag carrier for 32 of my 48 years and and sewed my first bag for my mom at age 12. I have designed and sewn the same bag (bucket type with inside pockets) for the past 17 years and it was great but yours is waaay better!
It has a slim profile against my body, I can carry it with my arm straight at my side and it doesn't drag the ground (I'm 5'4") and better yet--I didn't embarrass my daughter as I carried it around Paris!
In fact, one of my friends that ordered one, almost missed meeting her mother at an airport because her Mom didn't recognize her without her flowered bucket bag because it had been replaced with a Sapphire colored Swift! For the Paris trip my Swift carried two stuff sacks with knitting projects, Rick Steve's Paris book, ipod nano, cell phone, novel, water bottle, Nikon coolpix, scarf, subway map, moleskin, snacks and passport/money pouch when I wanted it out of the way. It felt very secure under my arm and yet didn't scream "tourist". I also really like the tackiness (not sure if that is the right word) of the plastic pockets in the Swift because I felt that it held my items there and if tipped and unzipped the items would stay put--ie, it takes an intentional tug to remove things from the pocket as opposed to items sliding around. One of my Swift owning friends puts papers behind the pockets to hold them in place and out of the way until she needs them. It fit under the seat of the airplane and I didn't knock people in the head as I went down the aisle to my seat!!
The only problem is now I want another Swift (new color combos are very tempting)--but I guess there are worse problems. I really enjoy carrying my Swift and using all of my Tom Bihn pieces. The quality of construction and smart design are the best I have encountered in a lifetime of bag carrying. I have used LLBean, Land's End, Namaste, and sewn my own as I said before and your products beat all--hands down. Thank you for great design and super products!"
