The Packing Cube Backpack (Tri-Star/Western Flyer) is a dual-purpose packing cube: in preparation for and during your journey, use it to organize and pack your clothing inside the Tri-Star — just like how you’d use our Large Tri-Star Packing Cube. When you reach your destination and it’s time to leave the Tri-Star in the hotel or hostel, you can remove the contents of the Packing Cube Backpack and right-side it out, transforming it into a backpack with two compartments, an O-ring, and webbing backpack straps that are surprisingly comfortable for lighter loads. Also available is the Packing Cube Backpack (Aeronaut).

(I am NOT an ultralight traveler!) If it is not holding any computer equipment, which packing cubes, and how many, fit well in this bag?”

A little background: our Packing Cubes are designed to help you organize and keep neat and tidy your clothes, socks, and shoes. They’re the perfect complement to — and are available in specific sizes for — our Aeronaut, Tri-Star, and Western Flyer carry-on travel bags. It’s not uncommon for folks to also want to use our Packing Cubes inside of our backpacks, briefcases, and messenger bags. For the Smart Alec backpack in particular, we recommend using the Packing Cubes for the Western Flyer — their dimensions will best fit in and utilize the space inside of the Smart Alec.
