“I just picked up the Field Journal the other day while heading back from the Seattle area. My first item from Tom Bihn and undoubtedly not the last! The red color is great and is a nice break from the many black and gray bags in the gear closet. It’s nice to have an easy way to transport important notes, paperwork, and receipts — all the while keeping them from getting trashed or lost. No more personal info on Post-Its and hotel notepads!”
“My second day with my new Smart Alec has me contemplating my next adventure. World exploration? A trip to the North and South poles? Traversing the Amazon River? Summiting Mount Everest?
Nope, not today. Just a quick trip to the gym and back. However, I did decide to take some quick photos to share in the excitement I have for a new S.A. ”
“I put a (redesigned) Smart Alec on my wish list, assuring my beloved it was just fine that it was a backordered color combination (for shipping in January). She apparently went ahead and ordered it, got a shipping notification, and received it in Seattle just one hour before we left for the airport for our Christmas in Minnesota! The black/black/wasabi combination still shows as backordered, so you folks at the Tom Bihn factory accomplished a Christmas miracle! So fun and awesome. I don’t know how I got so lucky as to actually have the bag in hand and get to wear it, but I appreciate it SO MUCH!!! Yay for the great surprise!!”
Back on September 1st, 2007, Nick posted a review of his new Brain Bag on his blog. Below is an excerpt; go here to read the full review.
“Second, it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into the ergonomics of their products. The zippers were all easily accessible and clearly heavy duty. The pockets on the back of the bag [Brain Bag] make for easy access. The bag has straps on the side that allow for expansion, keeping the bag “just the right size” while allowing for a lot of stuff to be put into it. Overall, it was clear that this was a really, really nice product.”
It’s holiday time at wondrous Tom Bihn
The staff is working through festive din
And Tom and Darcy truth be known
Have Synapsed Riley a festive bone
And Cubes and Tristars on the lots
Are flanked by bright red Aeronauts
Bihnelves have heard the joyful cry
And help stack Travel Trays to the sky
The entire staff from this festive place
Sends all best wishes to human race
But also to animals that we all love
To dogs and cats and the peaceful dove
Even the mice in our factory store
Who nibble Dyneema scraps on the floor.

“Just getting around to posting this, but wanted to mention I took the Travel Tray camping this weekend. It is one of the best camping accessories ever! It was so nice to have a place in the tent to put all the things like keys, flashlight, knife, etc and be able to find them again easily. No more searching in the dark for the flashlight! Thanks Tom Bihn.”
“I use mine every time we use our Travel Trailer. I agree, it’s wonderful to not have those little essential bits be hard to find.”
J. emailed us this feedback last week:
“I discovered Tom Bihn approximately 2 years ago, when I was in the market for a sturdy and simple laptop case. My first purchase was a Brain Cell for my MacBook Pro and I am happy to say that I haven’t looked back since; I have bought and received three more bags (all different) and accessories — they complete me in ways I didn’t know were possible.
I have been wanting to write this e-mail for a while, but I needed to be in the right mindset, in order to avoid being too gushy….you guys are the epitome of what a sustainable, USA-based company should be. Your business model and corporate ethics is synchronous with the fundamentally functional and aesthetically awesome products that you produce.
I consider it an honor and privilege to be able to purchase and acquire these tools, and I never doubt their performance and functionality. You have been able to produce a reliable support system for me, something that lets me be me, and I simply cannot thank you enough for that.
Whenever I need to find inspiration in a company that is fighting the good fight and producing their very best, I know that I simply need to peruse the Tom Bihn website.
I wholeheartedly extend my thanks and gratitude for producing such incredible equipment and for running a company the right way; not many people do, and those that do should be praised and rooted on.”
“Everything fits in the bag with room to spare for practice jerseys, a water bottle, snacks etc. The overall weight is around 20lbs. I wear a women’s size 8 shoe which translates to a men’s size 7 speed boot with nylon plates. All of my pads are size small and the ankle weights are around 7 lbs. There is room for larger skates/pads especially without the ankle weights and misc pads. I’ve been really happy with the Aeronaut-as-skate-bag. It’d definitely heavy, but once it’s on my back it’s comfortable. I do have the chest and waist straps on in case I need them, but for the most part it’s just the distance from the house to the car and from the car to the rink so I don’t do a lot of trekking with it.”
