Daily Gadget Reviews the Empire Builder

Alan Williams of the
Daily Gadget
reviewed the Empire Builder. Here’s an excerpt of his review:

alt="Empire Builder" width="170" height="168" />
"I’ve been using this bag for a few months now, and I have simply not
found a better briefcase anywhere for any price. This bag’s typical
routine was to come with me to work, then to school to pick up my son,
countless meeting during the week, more than a few trips … in each case,
it performs well. Kept me organized and prepared with everything I needed.

Tom Bihn’s bags don’t come cheap, but it is money well spent. I’ve used
briefcases that have cost five times what the
Empire Builder
does ($140), and none of them come close. Makes me really wish I could keep it.

Why would I give up such a wonderful bag? Simple. My wife loved it too.

She’s able to carry all of her work, scriptbooks, drafting and supplies,
her lunch, and even a sweatshirt all in the Empire Builder. All stuff
she would have crammed haphazardly into backpack can be carried with
grace in the Empire Builder."

Sparky of Gearlive reviews the Monolith and Brain Bag

On the Monolith:

“It was easy to give the Monolith high ranks. Between
the friendly customer service at the Tom Bihn store in Seattle, the
solid and well thought out construction made of durable materials, and
the sense of security that I got using it I am a very happy reviewer.
The Monolith would have gotten a 10/10 like its cousin the Brain Cell if
not for the lack of a pocket. Gear Live highly recommends this unique
laptop carrier.”

On the Brain Bag:

“10/10. The Brain Bag is a well thought out bag aimed at the highly
active Gear Live reader. If you are looking for a small bag to carry a
laptop around this is overkill (and you should look at some of the
excellent smaller bags Tom Bihn has to offer), but if like me, you carry
lots of stuff with you in your day-to-day life and don’t want to be
stuck with a gym bag, laptop bag, messenger bag with you and want to
consolidate, then the Brain Bag is for you. This bag features some of
the most durable construction and well thought out design that we have
ever seen.”

SchwarzTech reviews the Brain Bag

“Overall, the Brain Bag was a very impressive piece of luggage.
Despite its large size, it didn’t feel bulky or uncomfortable in the least bit.
The best part, besides the reliability and high-quality construction is
that it gives you the abilities to mix and match what accessories you
want for the inner compartments, making it a truly personalized product.
Although the price might steer some away, you do get what you pay for.”

CV-Games reviews the eM2, Super Ego, Brain Bag, and Brain Cell

Excerpts from the reviews:

The eM2:
“Using the eM2, I never will have to wonder if my Mac mini is safe.
If you own a mini, this is the only case you will ever need.”

Brain Bag:
“Not only did this Brain Bag make it through E3, it still looks as
new as the day I received it. Some may look at the price tag and say
it is a bit too expensive for them. However, the benefit of having
a great bag for many years far outweighs the price.”

Freudian Slip:
“No Brain Bag is complete without the Freudian Slip, though.
This optional accessory will allow you to place papers and keep them
sorted in your bag. At E3, I found this item to be essential to
keeping my notes and pending articles separate from completed
items. While it is not necessary to purchase this item, if you
have to deal with traveling with lots of papers, this is
a no-brainer.”

Final thoughts:
“As you can see, Tom Bihn products are perfect for not only
carrying computers but anything you carry around. Whether I
am away at a conference, going on a road trip, headed to
my office, or just off to a friend or family member’s house,
Tom Bihn has a bag that is perfect for you. You can buy the last
bag you will ever need to own at TomBihn.com.”

Andru Edwards of GearLive on The Chris Pirillo Show

Check out this interview
with Andru Edwards
of Gearlive on the Chris Pirillo Show.
Andru mentions his Tom Bihn Brain Cell
(our hard-shell laptop case) and talks about the overwhelming traffic to Gearlive following
their post on how to beat a traffic ticket using Google Maps, and all the latest gadget news.

Back in April, Andru, along with his wife Monica and their son Alijah, came to our Seattle
store to interview Tom and check out our full line of products. Andru also recently posted his
review of the Brain Cell.

Schwarztech reviews the Monolith

“The Monolith costs $45, but is well worth the price. Containing 8mm thick
padding reinforced by 4mm of corrugated plastic, the Monolith provides all the
protection needed in a laptop case. A sturdy zipper adorns the top of the case.
Underneath this zipper is more padding, so the laptop is protected
on all sides. Altogether, the laptop should be protected from all but the most
major abuse.”

Notebookreview.com reviews the Super Ego

alt="The inside of the Super Ego" width="180" height="123" />
“The Super Ego is a very well constructed bag, thoughtfully designed
messenger style bag that provides oodles of room. It’s probably a bit
big for anyone with a 12" or smaller notebook, your notebook might drown
in the room available and you’d have to dig to find it. But if you’ll
be carrying text books and a small laptop, or just a really big laptop,
or just a lot of text books and no laptop (you get my point) then this
bag will fit the bill. The bag is pricey, it starts at $140. That’s
the price you pay for customization, a satisfaction guaranteed warranty,
high quality materials and small company that designs and produces their
own bags locally. If you buy the bag, I recommend saving on weight and
going with the plastic buckle, the choice of colors — well that’s up to
you.”

The Buzz reviewed at LIVEdigitally

The Obstacle Course Results:

The Capacity Test: This bag did well with the capacity.
I would have liked a bit more storage, but that would have ruined
the design and agility of the bag.

One Hour Endurance Test: Passed with flying colors.

The Water Test: Rubber zipper coverings proved to hold up to their
expectation, the cardboard was dry as a bone after being doused with
some H2O.

The Function vs. Style Test: This bag carried all that I needed
comfortably and in style. Tom Bihn rides the teeter-totter quite well
on the balance between function and style.

The Female Test: Three out of three females gave me the go ahead to
wear this bag in public. They said it looked good and I looked good in it.
I did not, however, get any phone digits because of the bag. Good thing
getting cute girl phone digits isn’t part of the Laptop Case Obstacle Course.

Notebookreview.com reviews the Brain Bag

alt="Brain Bag pocket" width="100" height="112" />
“I’ve tested a bunch of notebook backpacks and haven’t seen anything else
quite as robust in terms of quality, accessories and storage options as the Brain Bag.
It’s very comfortable to wear, enough so that I’m considering ditching the smaller
pack I’ve been using for over a year to migrate full-time to the Brain Bag.
I love being able to have absolutely everything with me all the time.
Because you know, that one time you need the spare backup drive, or something else
that you normally don’t carry, it’s a savior.”

Gearlive reviews the Brain Cell

width="100" height="133" />

Andru Edwards, the founder and Editor-in-chief of Gearlive, his wife Monica, and their
son Alijah (pictured) visited our Seattle retail store in April to interview Tom and
check out our full product line. It was a lot of fun and Alijah is the cutest baby ever,
always smiling! Andru has been testing our Brain Cell and Empire Builder bags for
upcoming reviews. He has just published his review of the Brain Cell – excerpt and
links below.

“The Brain Cell feels as light as a feather, yet offers top-notch
protection for notebook computers. The folks at Tom Bihn did their homework, and it
really shows. It is offered in a great selection of colors, and looks great being carried.
If you just need your notebook, your accessories can be placed in the front pocket and
you will have everything you need in a sleek space. If you have a need for more gear,
grab this along with a larger Tom Bihn bag, and you will still be left with only one
thing to carry since it intelligently integrates right into the rest of their product line.”
