Snow Day Wednesday?

TOM BIHN Seattle Snow Day

Seattle is expecting eight or more inches of snow tomorrow, so we’re preparing for the possibility that our staff might not be able to safely get to work to ship your orders. We’re staying late today to process as many late-in-the-day orders as we can and we’re preparing to answer phone calls and emails from home. If tomorrow ends up being a snow day, we’ll let you know right away. Thanks for your understanding and, as always, if you have questions, just ask.

The Gadgeteer review of the Little Swift

“When I think of Tom Bihn bags, I think of laptop and gear bags. There are several Tom Bihn bags in my house, including an 8 or 9 year old Empire Builder that has been used every day since its purchase and still looks almost like new. I don’t typically think of knitting or purses when I think of Tom Bihn, but that’s exactly where my thoughts were when I was checking out their website recently. Tom Bihn had actually designed a bag for knitters some time ago. He worked in conjunction with the readers of Knitty magazine to design the Swift tote bag that could carry around a knitter’s work-in-progress, yarns, needles, and other supplies. I’m not a knitter, so I didn’t really give it much thought when I first saw it. They’ve recently introduced a smaller version of the Swift, called the Little Swift, which is exactly the same design but only 80% of the Swift’s size. They also had the bag in a new fabric that caught my eye. The Little Swift in Vulcana Hemp/Recycled Rubber was on its way to my house as quickly as I could get my credit card out of my wallet.”

TUAW reviews the Cadet

“I wanted to test out the Cadet with all of my mobile gear — iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and 11″ MacBook Air. Tom Bihn thoughtfully provided both the Cadet Caches padded sleeves for the iPad and 11″ MBA, so I was able to try both. In additional, I loaded the bag up with most of the adapters, cables, and accessories that I normally take with me on trips.

As you can see from some of the gallery photos, I was able to put all of that equipment, plus cables, power adapters, keys, and more into the Cadet … and this is the small version! It’s like this bag expands into another dimension, magically adding space when you need it. Fortunately the weight of the equipment wasn’t overwhelming, but the Absolute Shoulder Strap did make carrying it quite comfortable.”

Finally: snow

Riley, Tom Bihn's dog, in the snow

Riley, Tom’s dog.

This weekend saw the first snow event in the lowlands of Western Washington. Up high, that means plenty of snow for snowshoeing and other fun stuff. The Synapse is a great daypack for many outings, though when you need to carry a lot of extra winter gear to be prepared, you might want to (because we do) use the Smart Alec or Brain Bag. All three backpacks have hydration tube clips on the front shoulder strap (useful for those of you who use a Camelbak or similar hydration system) which we’ll take some in-use photos of soon. If you have a specialized pack you use for outdoors stuff, more power to you, but if you want to get out and up, know your Synapse, Smart Alec, or Brain Bag can make the trip with you.

It was pretty dark by the time we took this photo, so we used a headlamp as a light source.

All Things Dog Blog Review of the Citizen Canine

All Things Dog Blog Review of the Citizen Canine

“We’ve looked at a couple of different dog owner carryalls in the past, but none so high-end and supreme quality as this line. This company makes all of their products in Seattle out of the toughest ballistic nylon for superior wear. And mama let me tell you does this bag scream well-made. It makes me proud to say it’s American made.”
