Macworld Review: Ristretto for iPad

Excerpt:
“Overall, this is a great bag and probably the one I’m going to buy for my own iPad adventures. Some may not need as much storage or the Tom Bihn quality, and there certainly are other good options that you can find among our reviews. But the Ristretto’s construction is top notch, the strap is comfortable, and Tom Bihn struck a great balance between the iPad’s small size and the extras that are arguably necessary for the iPad lifestyle.”

“I must say, I have nothing but praise for the Checkpoint Flyer. It was absolutely comfortable with it’s fabulous shoulder strap and the design was very handy for times during my journey when I needed access to my laptop, documents and magazines. It was also the perfect size for an overnight stay and carried all my stuff in comfort. Last but not least the workmanship looks like it will last and last and last.”

    Excerpt from maverick’s post below – read the full post (complete with many more amazing photos!) here.

    “my wife is off to spain for five days while i stay home with my son and take care of responsibilities at school and work.

    hmmm, what’s wrong with this picture?

    on top of that, she’s packed herself in a lovely steel/solar aeronaut and a navy/cayenne medium cafe bag!

    in the aeronaut, she packed five changes of clothes, including tops, pants, capris, and pajamas in a solar packing cube backpack; a whole lot of food (basically one of the end compartments is well filled with food); liquids in one 3d clear packing cube (i never realized how much you can stuff into a 3d clear packing cube!) and solid toiletries in another; hair brush; other odds and ends.

    the medium cafe holds a canon s90 camera inside a small padded organizer pouch, lip balm, lipstick, lotion, hand sanitizer, pen, her iphone, her iphone charger, medicines, vision glasses, sunglasses, a couple of paperback books, a backup dinner (in case the airline screws up her meal – otherwise it’s a snack for later in the flight), travel documents, and wallet.

    the aeronaut had some wiggle room where, if needed, she could stuff the medium cafe bag into the aeronaut. she flew iberia airlines, and they allow one carry-on – so hopefully it all played out well. i believe she flew an airbus a340 from here to madrid, and will fly an airbus a319 from madrid to malaga. hopefully, there won’t be too many roll-aboards, and she can comfortably place the aeronaut in an overhead bin and keep the medium cafe bag with her. a number of our friends were on the same plane (about 25 or so), and we saw at least a hand full of them all checking bags when we arrived at the airport. hopefully their bags will arrive safely at their destination!

    by the way, my son and i aren’t planning on sitting around the house while she’s off to spain. after finishing up with work and school this week, we’ll find a fun adventure for ourselves on saturday!”

    Chip Griffin: Tom Bihn’s Checkpoint Flyer: My Best Bag Ever

    src="http://www.tombihn.com/blogimages/chipgriffinlogo.jpg" alt="TOM BIHN Ristretto for iPad" width="450" height="57">

    Excerpt:
    “Finally, [The Checkpoint Flyer] it does what it advertises: TSA hasn’t given me any hassle over it at all. On my first trip through airport security with it, it did draw extra attention, but as a result of the myriad other gadgets I had in the bag, not because of the laptop. As part of that experience, I realized that if I laid the bag fully flat — essentially in 3 sections rather than just separating the laptop portion from the rest, it would sail through the X-ray machine because there was that much less other electronic gear and wires stacked on top of each other. I have now gone almost a month without any additional scrutiny on my bag which is highly unusual since I used to get a special inspection at least once a week.”
