Brain Bag: I like it so much, I bought it twice
Excerpted raves for the Brain Bag from the TOM BIHN Forums thread “Brain Bag: I like it so much, I bought it twice”-
gmich:
“I purchased a navy Brain Bag a little over two years ago, and I did a pretty detailed review of it soon after. My positive feelings about it haven’t lessened at all over the past 24 months. During the school year (I’m a professor), I use it pretty much every day as my main — and usually only — bag, and I’ve also used it as a travel bag on short trips.”
KarlJ:
“I adore my Sapphire Brain Bag. It holds considerably more than I would care to carry, and is a lot of bag, but has proven to be very versatile with it’s cinch straps and layout. I’m always finding new ways to configure it.”
ozone:
“I’ve said it before… my Black Brain Bag – bought back in 2000 – still looks great. No matter what other bags I try for “day-to-day” use, I always come back to the Brain Bag! I’m a prof too… ha! “Brain” bag, get it?
(Okay… maybe not so brainy!)”
MagicTiki:
“I have had my Brain Bag for almost a year now, and it is hands-down the best backpack I have ever owned. Tough, durable, and flexible… I have owned a lot of backpacks over the years, and none of them have ever come close. Work, camping, school, traveling… it does it all!”
backpack:
“I can only second the feeling of everybody, I have 3 Brain Bags and it would be
4 if I hadn’t chosen Steel instead of Plum when I bought my first Brain Bag.”
An Update on the Synapse
Our Seattle factory has begun production on the Synapse backpack. We hope the first backorders will ship as early as late October. One subtle change has been made to the Synapse since we first introduced it – the lower back panel will be made out of 420 denier nylon instead of 1050d ballistic nylon. The 420d nylon is a finer weave than the 1050d ballistic nylon, and because of that, it will be even gentler on one’s clothing. Though lighter-weight than 1050d ballistic nylon, 420d nylon is still an incredibly tough and long-lasting fabric.
In stock: Large Shop Bag
The Large Shop Bag is now shipping in colors Steel/White and Solar/White.
“I don’t recommend this (at least until the Shop Bag with the longer handles comes out so you have clearance to throw it over a shoulder), but I just lugged a pack of 24 16.9 fl oz bottles of Aquafina water home from the store using my Shop Bag. To clarify, that’s approximately 25 pounds of water, plus the weight of the packaging. And it looks none at all the worse for wear!”

gigantoid: What’s in my Imago? (Pictures)
“While not made for cameras it [the Imago] works for me while around town. This shows what I carry at MAX capacity. Remove the flash and its batteries, one lens and its not quite as preganant.
I also have a Super Ego messenger bag which is more for carry on, travel etc as it’s quite a bit larger and I’ve found I can just drop the imago bag and it’s contents into the main pocket inside the Super Ego and still have room to spare.”

Smart Alec at Camp Muir below the summit of Mt. Rainier
“Tom and Team,
I’ve had my Empire Builder for years and love it. In fact, I started my own
company right around the time I purchased it and it has held strong – so has
my company.
I recently purchased the Smart Alec. It served me well on a recent trip to
Camp Muir below the summit of Mt. Rainier.
Here we both are in action.”

flitcraft: DVT–beware on long haul flights!
“I’m a frequesnt flyer and a fairly frequent passenger on long flights. So I’m pretty blase about things like deep vein thrombosis. Sure, when I think about it I’d rotate my feet and shrug my shoulders a bit, but that’s about the extent that I went to.”
