Denali (Mt. McKinley) picture by reina
Look very closely, and you’ll see reina at the top of Denali with her Brain Bag. Just kidding! There aren’t any bags in this picture, but it is such an amazing photograph of Mt. McKinley that we had to share it with you. Thanks to reina from the TOM BIHN Forums for posting this picture! See a larger version of the photograph and read about reina’s trip to Denali here.
Reminder: Seattle Store Open Tomorrow (08/22)
Our Seattle Factory Showroom/Store will be open tomorrow – Saturday, August 22nd – from 11am – 3pm. We’ll have coffee, Tom’s home-made biscotti, and a Synapse sample on-hand. A note about pictures: please ask permission before you take pictures in our store or factory. Some of the folks who work here would rather not have their picture taken, and we ask that you not take pictures of prototypes or unreleased bags. Thank you, and see you tomorrow!
New: Large Shop Bag
A Large version of our Shop Bag is now available for pre-order. The Large Shop Bag measures 13.25″ x 12.5″ x 7.25″ and weighs 7.0oz (the Small Shop Bag measures 11″ x 10.25″ x 6″ and weighs 5.1oz) The Large Shop Bag also features longer handles – the same length as our Swift bag. Tom designed the Large Shop Bag to be able to fit two cartons of eggs side-by-side in the bottom of the bag. The Large Shop Bag is available for pre-order now and ships by mid-October. $35.
Below are pictures of the Small Shop Bag. We will post pictures of the Large Shop Bag next week.
New versions of: Packing Cube Shoulder Bag, Packing Cube Backpack

Our Packing Cube Backpack and Shoulder Bag are convertible packing cubes
designed to be dual-purpose: use them as Packing Cubes to organize and
pack your clothing inside of the Aeronaut, Tri-Star, and Western Flyer
carry-on travel bags, and once you arrive at your destination, unpack
and use the Packing Cube Backpack or Shoulder Bag as a day bag for
around town: pack a light jacket, map, water bottle, wallet,
lunch/snack, and go! Instead of traveling with a Packing Cube and a
separate shoulder bag or light backpack, you’ve carried one bag that
works as both, saving space and weight.
Tom has redesigned the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag to be a new, slightly smaller size that
fits well all three of our carry-on travel bags: the Aeronaut, Tri-Star,
and Western Flyer. The new size has a wonderful proportion that makes it
even better to carry as a shoulder bag.
New is the Packing Cube Backpack (Tri-Star/Western Flyer), designed
specifically for (you guessed it) the Tri-Star and Western Flyer. The
Packing Cube Backpack (Aeronaut) continues to be available. Unlike the
Packing Cube (Aeronaut), the Packing Cube (Tri-Star/Western Flyer) does
not have separate bottom compartment. Instead, it has a diagonal
zippered pocket on the front, similar to the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag.
Due to some last-minute technical difficulties, we won’t be able to post
pictures of the new Packing Cube Shoulder Bag and Packing Cube (Tri-Star/Western Flyer) until early next week. Pictures of the previous
version of Packing Cube Shoulder Bag are posted until then, and pictures
of the Packing Cube Backpack (Aeronaut) will give you a general idea of
the Packing Cube (Tri-Star/Western Flyer) though please note
that the compartments are different.
Radio bug: Sightseeing with the Brain Bag in Virginia
“I took my Brain Bag while visiting several sites in Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
My husband and son went with me to the Virginia Aquarium, Virginia Zoo, and the Nauticus (and USS Wisconsin). The Brain Bag worked wonderfully to carry cameras, a change of clothes for my son (just in case of spills), and anything else we needed.” Posted by Radio bug in the TOM BIHN Forums.

Introducing the Cache laptop sleeve
A padded sleeve for your laptop, the Cache is designed to protect your laptop against scrapes and scratches. Its 1/4″ (6mm) thick foam padding laminated with an exterior of four-ply Taslan and an interior of brushed tricot cradles your laptop. No noisy Velcro® or zipper, the Cache closes by simply tucking a generous flap into the top opening. The Cache protects your laptop with little bulk added and is ideal for those who don’t want their laptop case to make their loads heavier or take up a lot of space. The Cache has replaced the Soft Cell laptop sleeve.
The Cache is available for pre-order in Horizontal and Vertical Sizes 1, 2M, 2S, 2XL, 2XXLT, 4Z, 6, and AIR (designed specifically and only for the MacBook Air.) The Size 2M and 4Z will ship by early-mid September; all other sizes ship by late September. A new size specifically for Netbooks will be added for pre-order later today. $30.
