TOM BIHN Reviews on Facebook

Howard recently posted the below review on the TOM BIHN Facebook page.

“I ordered my Aeronaut carry-on just in time for a two-day board trip to Indy. I packed an extra set of shoes in one side compartment, two pairs of jeans, a pair of slacks, two books, my 3-1-1 quart bag, some minor electronics, shirts, socks, etc., all in a slim trim carry-on that slid into the overheads without a hitch. I love the side handles that allow me to pull it back out of the overheads without a lot of fumbling and also the ability to convert it to a backpack. Definitely gadget-rific for a geek like me!

I also have the Smart Alec backpack with deep side pockets, the obligatory Brain Cell laptop case that clips securely to the back wall of the pack, and the Snake Charmer to hold all of my adapters, mouse and cables. If you’re out for an every-day laptop/Mactop pack, I recommend the Smart Alec over the Brain Bag, which is a great pack but was much too large for my needs.

In addition to having “really smart” names (purely coincidental that their bags are the Brain Bag, Smart Alec, Id, Ego and Super-Ego) and in addition to being really gadget-rific, the most intriguing part of Tom Bihn bags is that they’re hand-made in the U.S. and they have really great customer service!” — posted by Howard on the TOM BIHN Facebook page.

Pre-order: Size 2XXLT Brain Cell

The Size 2XXLT Brain Cell is now available for pre-order and ships by late May. It fits large 18″ PC laptops, such as the:

Acer Aspire 8920-6671
HP HDX 18t
Note: The HP HDX 18t will also fit in the Size 2XL Horizontal Brain Cell, which will clip inside of our Super Ego messenger bag.
Sony VAIO VGN AW Series
Toshiba Qosmio G55

The 2XXLT Brain Cell doesn’t fit inside any of our current briefcases, messenger bags, or backpacks, though Tom does plan on designing a larger briefcase and messenger bag that will fit the 2XXLT. Those bags should be available September/October ’09.

Thanks to BigMikeD. from the TOM BIHN Forums for bringing his HDX 18t to our Seattle store and encouraging us to make this larger size of Brain Cell!

“I just wanted to congratulate you all on a fine piece of luggage.”

“I got my bag [Empire Builder] as promised on Wed of this week, just in time to pack it up for a flight later that evening.

I just wanted to congratulate you all on a fine piece of luggage. The design, the build quality, and the ergonomics are by far the best I’ve ever experienced in a laptop bag (and I’ve owned quite a few, including many “high quality” brands).

It is great to see that there are still companies that take pride in their work and believe that customers appreciate quality not just fancy designs of low cost workmanship.

As much as I liked your bags on the website it was still a difficult decision
especially when you can’t see and feel the bag personally. What made the difference for me was (a) the strength of your online reviews and (b) the responsiveness of your customer support. Even though I can walk into a store and touch a Tumi or Briggs, I would never be able to have an email dialogue with someone responsible for building the product!

Thanks and keep up the good work. America needs more companies like yours.” – M.M.

Traveling Mamas Review – Travel Gear Review: Tom Bihn Bags

TOM BIHN Bags Reviewed by The Traveling Mamas

“Now I’m not sure how I ever went anywhere without my Medium Cafe Shoulder Bag. I. Love. This. Bag.

And I know I speak for all the Mamas when I say how great we think Tom Bihn products are. Of the four different bags we tested on planes, in airports, around Old San Juan and even in El Yunque rainforest (!), it was difficult for us to find much to complain about. Tom Bihn bags are simultaneously rugged and classy, functional and sleek. They’re downright cool.” Read the full review, which includes larger versions of the pictures below and a video showing the Mamas with their bags.
