Customer Review of the Aeronaut

Check out this recent customer review of the Aeronaut.

“On to the bag itself: The Aeronaut is very well constructed. It has one main compartment in the middle of the bag and two outer pockets that are perfect for shoes or items that you need to get to quickly. There is also a side zipper pocket that is small items / papers. When I got the bag, I was a little surprised how roomy it was.”

On the Tom Bihn Packing Cubes:

“I also ordered the packing cubes that go along with it. I got two smaller and one large and they fit perfectly into the bag. I am glad that I got the ones made by Tom Bihn because they were sized exactly right- no wasted space. Honestly, if left to my own devices I will usually pack using my foot- stuff everything in and then jam with my foot so it will eventually close. The packing cubes truely maximized space- I was able to take 5 shirts (4 short-sleeve, 1 long sleeve), three pairs of pants, 8 pairs of socks and underwear, some t-shirts, 3 pairs of shorts, and 2 pairs of shoes. Not too shabby!”

A Rave for the TB Customer Service Crew

Alan of Daily Gadget (who has previously reviewed Tom Bihn bags for his Daily Gadget blog and forums) recently blogged about the customer service he received from Tom Bihn Customer Service Associates Brian, Alex, and Amy:

“So earlier today I ordered a new green strap [for the Super Ego with a standard fastex clip. $5, no big deal, right?

Well, not even a hour goes by when I got a call from the company. They wanted to let me know that they could not get my strap out today, but they were going to make one for me tomorrow and send it out. They wanted to let me know as they always try to ship same day, and in this case they just couldn’t.

I was rather impressed. That’s a lot of attention for a $5 strap.

Tom Bihn already won me over as a customer with their excellent products, but they have made me an evangelist for their company with great customer service like this!”

The Brain Cell in Olive

The Brain Cell

We’ve just added a sixth color of our Brain Cell hard-sided laptop case: Olive.

The Brain Cell takes laptop protection a step further. Cradled in 8mm thick soft foam padding, your laptop hangs suspended in a 4mm hard corrugated plastic insert that protects from the front, back, and bottom. The sides are protected by dense cross-linked closed-cell polyethylene foam. This offers the toughest protection you can get for your laptop in a case that is still light and minimalist. Olive joins other Brain Cell colors Wasabi, Black, Crimson, Steel, and Deep Blue.

Olive is like army green but brighter , similar to Pantone® 5757C:

The Brain Cell is currently available in Olive in sizes: 2XL, 4X, and 5. All sizes of Brain Cell will be available in Olive by late May.

New Additions to our FAQ

We’ve recently added these two new questions and answers to our F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions):

  • How often does Tom Bihn release new products, update old products, or introduce new colors?
  • We work to improve our products all the time, so throughout the year we release a new bag, add a new pocket to an existing bag, or add a new color. We are often able to give our customers a sneak preview of upcoming changes on our forums, so that’s the best place to check on what we’re up to.

  • Speaking of cool new features, I purchased a Tom Bihn bag six months ago (or three months or four years) and now I see the same bag has a cool new feature (or comes in a new color). Can I return my used bag for an exchange or upgrade?
  • Sadly it is seldom cost-effective for us to add a new feature to an existing bag. And changing the color of a bag, well, that would be magic, wouldn’t it? Think of the purchase of a Tom Bihn bag as you would the purchase of a car: next year’s model may have more features or come in a better color. But at some point you just need to take the plunge and get out there and enjoy your new bag!

Tell us what you think in our forums.

Sneak Preview: The Ego Messenger Bag

The Ego is the new, smaller version of the Super Ego messenger bag. It will be available for pre-order on our Web site in the next few weeks, and has a shipping date of mid-March. To find out more about the Ego, or ask us questions about the bag, visit our forums.

Below are pictures of the Ego in colors Black/Hunter/Steel with a Snow Leopard UltraSuede Strip, and Black/Crimson/Steel with a Cork strip.

    Rory writes:

A little about myself: I am training for the Napa Valley marathon
March 4, through Team in Training, raising
money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This will
be my second marathon. My first was Long Beach this last October.
Before that training season, the farthest I had ever run was 2 miles!

Our team consists of around 60 people. We meet each Saturday morning
at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena for our long runs, and train mostly by
ourselves during the week. There are also optional Wednesday night
practices. We have a training schedule given to us by the coaches that
we follow. My goal is to begin training for a 50 mile marathon after the Napa Valley marathon, to take place sometime towards the end of this year.

This has been a somber season, though. One of our honored teammates
(the individuals we connect with in person who have or are suffering
from Leukemia/Lymphoma) passed away, as did our coaches father who also had Leukemia. Those passings helped to further solidify in my mind the reason for my time spent running and fundraising.

How To Care For Your Tom Bihn Laptop Keyboard Cover

The Tom Bihn Laptop Keyboard Cover.
You love your Tom Bihn Laptop Keyboard Cover. You use it every day. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do (absorbs dirt and oil that your fingers leave behind on the keys of your laptop, keeping that stuff from getting on the screen). But now that it has that dirt and oil on it, how do you clean it?

Visit the Care Instructions page on the Ultrasuede® (the fabric the Laptop Keyboard Cover is made out of) Web site for the complete instructions. Or, read on for a condensed version of those instructions.

  • Hand or machine wash.
  • If you choose to machine wash your Laptop Keyboard Cover, use
cold water and a delicate cycle.
  • Use a mild detergent with no bleach.
  • Tumble dry low and remove promptly, or line dry.
